Dale Earnhardt Jr. headlines the 2021 NASCAR Hall of Fame class, which will be the smallest class ever inducted. The two-time winner of the Daytona 500 Dale Jr. will be joined by Red Farmer and the late Mike Stefanik, who died last year in a plane crash. Ralph Seagrave will go into the Hall as the Landmark Award winner.
HORSE RACING
The first race of the Triple Crown series this year will be the Belmont Stakes, and it’s Saturday. Tiz the Law was installed as the 6-to-5 favorite for the race yesterday as the post positions were drawn. Tiz the Law will break from the number-8 position in a ten-horse field.
Tap It to Win will have the post position, beside Sole Volante, then Max Player and Modernist. Farmington Road will break from the five slot, then it’s Fore Left and Jungle Runner, Tiz the Law, Dr. Post, and Pneumatic.
Sole Volante and Dr. Post are the other top contenders.
The Belmont is being run at one-and-one-eighths of a mile instead of the traditional one-and-a-half miles. The Kentucky Derby is scheduled for September 5th and the Preakness Stakes is to be run on October 3rd.
