Women's Lacrosse Lands Four on VaSID All-State Teams - RIchmond Spiders Athletic

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com
Richmond, Va.— Four Richmond women's lacrosse players were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State teams. Defender Brittney Wright took home first-team honors, while goalie Delaney Galvin, midfielder Sophia DiCenso and attacker Lindsey Frank were named to the second team.

Wright, Richmond's defensive leader and two-time A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, ended her final season with 15 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers as she locked in on opponents' offensive leaders. She held Stanford's Ashley Humphrey to a season-low two assists to help the Spiders upset the #16 Cardinal at Robins Stadium. Humphrey would go on to lead the NCAA in assists per game with 4.63. Wright also held Saint Joseph's Lauren Figura to three points (2 goals, 1 assist) on six shots. Figura led the A-10 in goals per game (3.43), points per game (4.14) and shots per game (6.71).

The Moorestown, N.J. native led Richmond to a 14-4 record and the 13th nationally-ranked scoring defense.

Helping the Spiders on both sides of the field in 2022, DiCenso was named the Atlantic 10's Midfielder of the year, the first for a Spider since 2012. The Foxboro, Mass. product started every game at midfield and was a staple within the Richmond transition/fast break game. She contributed heavily on both ends of the field, ranking third on team in goals, fourth in points and leads the team in ground balls (29) and caused turnovers (14).
Equally as dangerous on offense as she is on defense, DiCenso was a key part of Richmond's No. 1 A-10 ranking in assists, No. 2 ranking in points per game and No. 4 national ranking in assists per game.
The junior had a standout season that saw her tie or set new single-game career highs in five different stat areas including goals (4 vs. Saint Joseph's), assists (2 vs. George Mason), points (5, 2x, vs. Saint Joseph's and George Mason), shots (8 vs. George Washington) and ground balls (6 vs. James Madison).

Richmond's goals leader, Frank, led the offense with 47 goals and ranked No. 1 in goals per game and No. 1 in points per game in conference play. Overall, Frank was No. 2 in goals and No. 4 in points per game (4) in the conference. She led Richmond's attackers in ground balls (17), caused turnovers (7) and free position shots (20). She was been a key part of Richmond's No. 4 national ranking in assists with 21 and has also picked up the same number in draw controls to help Richmond to a No. 1 ranking in the conference in draw control percentage.

Between the pipes, Galvin started all 18 games in the cage for the Spiders, racking up 169 saves and a goals against average of 9.90. The Smithtown, NY native ended the year ranked fifth in the NCAA in saves percentage (.508) and 13th in total saves.

Her goalkeeping helped earn the Spiders the No. 13 scoring defense in the country (9.50 GAA) and No. 9 ranking in saves percentage (.501). Her GAA and save percentage both ranked second in the A-10 and her save percentage ranks seventh all-time for Spiders in a single season. Galvin ended her career as the NCAA's active career leader in saves 724.

Nuggets-Wizards trade: Denver acquires Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Ish Smith in four-player deal, per report - CBS Sports

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

The Denver Nuggets are trading guards Will Barton and Monte Morris to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith, per Shams Charania. This deal gives the Nuggets some financial flexibility for next year, as Morris still hadstwo years remaining on a three-year, $27 million deal.

With the addition of Caldwell-Pope, this deal also upgrades the Nuggets defensively, an area where Denver has struggled over the years. The Nuggets are expected to get back Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. from injury next season, putting them back into the title contender conversation, and this trade gives them some more depth on cheaper deals to put around two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.

With both Caldwell-Pope and Smith's contracts expiring after the 2022-23 season, it will give Denver a bit of a financial break for a team that is $32 million over the cap entering this upcoming season. With Murray and Porter Jr. already signed to hefty contracts, and Jokic expected to sign a five-year, $254 million supermax contract this summer, finding ways to save money while not sacrificing talent is key for the Nuggets going forward. This trade ensures that.

Another interesting tidbit to this trade is that if Smith does suit up for the Nuggets this fall, he will have set a record for most teams played for in the NBA at 13.

For the Wizards, they're getting back two solid players in Barton and Morris, both of whom are solid 3-point shooters to space the floor, so there isn't much loss here for them either. Bradley Beal is expected to sign a $248 million supermax contract this summer, so maintaining the talent around him while the Wizards try to remain competitive is important. This trade also likely takes the Wizards out of the Malcolm Brogdon sweepstakes, though they could still find ways to acquire the 29-year-old point guard if they're wanting to pair him with Beal in the backcourt.

Israeli parliament votes to dissolve, triggering fifth election in four years - CNN

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

(CNN)The Israeli parliament, the Knesset, voted Thursday to dissolve itself, triggering new elections.

On Friday, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will officially take over as caretaker prime minister under the terms of a coalition agreement made between outgoing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Lapid last year. Because Lapid -- a former journalist and star TV anchor -- is a caretaker prime minister, there will be no formal swearing-in ceremony.
Thursday's 92-0 vote finally concludes the slow motion ending to Bennett's run as prime minister -- one of the shortest terms in Israeli history -- and gives former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a potential path to return to power.
As the vote concluded, Lapid and Bennett wrapped their arms around each other, hugged and switched seats so that Lapid was sitting in the prime minister's position.
When they were departing the Knesset floor, Bennett accidentally took Lapid's cellphone. "My brother," Lapid said, "you took my phone." Bennett replied, "My brother, you took my job."
New elections will be held on November 1 -- the fifth round of voting for Israelis in less than four years. Recent polling shows former prime minister Netanyahu's Likud party on track to win the most number of seats, but the polls do not show that his right-wing bloc will necessarily have enough seats to gain a parliamentary majority and be able to form a ruling government.
Speaking on the parliament floor before the dissolution vote, Netanyahu vowed to return to power.
The election provides Netanyahu with a potential path back to power.
"We are the only alternative: a strong national government, stable and responsible. A government that will return the national honor to the citizens of Israel," Netanyahu said.
The night before the dissolution, Bennett announced he would be stepping back from politics and would not run for re-election.
"I will remain a loyal soldier of this country, which I have served all my life as a soldier, officer, minister and prime minister. The State of Israel is the love of my life. To serve her is my destiny," Bennett said in a speech to the nation. "Now is my time to step back a little. Look at things from the outside."
The coalition government had been teetering for weeks. But Bennett and Lapid's announcement last week that they wanted to dissolve their own government and hand power to Lapid came as a surprise.
"In the last few weeks, we did everything we could to save this government. In our eyes, the continuation of its existence was in the national interest," Bennett said earlier this month, standing alongside Lapid.
"Believe me, we looked under every rock. We didn't do this for ourselves, but for our beautiful country, for you citizens of Israel," Bennett added.
The Bennett-Lapid government was sworn into office in June last year bringing an end to Netanyahu's premiership, which had lasted more than 12 years.
Made up of no fewer than eight political parties, the coalition stretched right across the political spectrum, including for the first time an Arab party, led by Mansour Abbas.
United in a desire to prevent Netanyahu -- whose corruption trial had already begun in May 2020 -- from remaining in power, the disparate coalition partners agreed to put their substantial differences to one side.
Although it notched significant domestic and diplomatic achievements, it was internal politics that ultimately brought the coalition down.
Recent weeks have seen a number of coalition members either quitting, or threatening to quit, leaving the government without a majority in parliament to pass legislation.
The political impasse came to a head earlier this month, when a Knesset vote failed to uphold the application of Israeli criminal and civil law to Israelis in the occupied West Bank.
Among other things, the regulation, which comes up for renewal every five years, gives Israeli settlers in Palestinian territories the same legal treatment as they have within Israel's borders, and is an article of faith for right-wing members of the coalition, including Prime Minister Bennett.
But two members of the coalition refused to support the bill, meaning it failed to pass.
Because parliament dissolved before the law expired on July 1, the regulation will remain in place until a new government is formed, at which time it will again go up for a vote.

Notre Dame football recruiting: Four-star OL Charles Jagusah commits to Fighting Irish over rival Michigan - CBS Sports

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

247Sports

The rich keep getting richer in South Bend. Charles Jagusah, a four-star offensive tackle from Alleman High School in Rock Island, Illinois, announced his commitment to Notre Dame and first-year coach Marcus Freeman on Thursday morning. The blue-chip lineman, who ranks just outside the top 50 players in the 2023 class, chose the Fighting Irish over Michigan

"I would like to thank all of the coaches and programs that have given me this life-changing opportunity," he wrote on Twitter. "With that being said, I am very excited to announce my commitment to The University of Notre Dame."

Jagusah is a 6-foot-6, 308-pounder who is ranked No. 55 overall in the current recruiting cycle. In addition to the high national ranking, he is the top-ranked player at any position in the state of Illinois.

"I think for me it was really the new staff," Jagusah told 247Sports. "They changed my perspective of what Notre Dame is like and what I can get out by going there. Freeman is a super good dude. I think he's one of the most invested head coaches that I've met. I can tell that he's going to get the program to where everyone wants it to be."

Chris Singletary, national recruiting expert for 247Sports, provided this scouting report on the newest member of the Fighting Irish recruiting class:

Jagusah immediately looks the part when you see him. Listed in the 6-foot-6 and 300-pound range this 2-way lineman has what schools are looking for. For a player his size he is an above average athlete who is light on his feet. Having played soccer and basketball when he was younger has paid dividends for his athleticism. He has a good build and frame to mold that has very little bad weight on his body.

Possesses very nice body quickness and burst off the ball. Excellent bend and balance are some other traits that you see when you watch him on either side of the ball. Can change direction with ease and mirror guys. Able to make pass rushers run the hoop and out of the picture as they are trying to get to the quarterback. Once he engages he does a nice job of latching on and running his feet. His pad level is lower so that he rarely gives the defense his chest.

It's safe to say that Freeman's sales pitch to come to Notre Dame is resonating on the recruiting trail. Jagusah's commitment extends Notre Dame's lead in the quest for the national recruiting title. The Fighting Irish are ranked No. 1 overall in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings ahead of Ohio State and Texas. Fourteen of the 16 players committed to the Irish are either four- or five-star prospects, five of whom are top-100 prospects in the Composite rankings. On Wednesday, Notre Dame landed a commitment from four-star WR Cam Williams, who is also from Illinois.

Notre Dame football recruiting: Four-star WR Cam Williams commits to Fighting Irish on CBS Sports HQ - CBS Sports

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com
cam-williams-247.jpg
247Sports

Notre Dame continued its strong recent on the recruiting trail Wednesday night, when four-star receiver Cam Williams committed to the Fighting Irish live on CBS Sports HQ. Williams is considered the No. 111 overall player in the Class of 2024 and the No. 19 receiver in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. His commitment only solidifies Notre Dame's early hold on No. 1 in the Class of 2024 team recruiting rankings.

Williams is Notre Dame's fifth commitment of the class and second pass-catcher to join the group since five-star quarterback CJ Carr committed on June 9. Four-star tight end Jack Larsen committed last week, as the Fighting Irish begin building around Carr for the future. As a sophomore at Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois during the 2021 season, Williams caught 37 passes for 671 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Tom Loy of 247Sports and Notre Dame insider at Irish Illustrated named Williams one of Notre Dame's top 10 prospects for the Class of 2024 earlier this month and projected that he'll continue to rise in the recruiting rankings. Here is Loy's full evaluation:

I'm a big fan of this wide receiver and I believe he'll only improve as he adds strength over the next few years. In fact, I'm willing to wager he'll rise into the Top 100 over time. Williams is super light on his feet, swift off the snap with rapid footwork in his routes. With those outstanding feet, Williams has stop-on-a-dime ability which helps create separation. And he's a vertical threat due in part to his quickness off the snap. He's quite lean currently. And while that's not an uncommon characteristic at his position, once he stacks on more strength, his game should really take off. It's worth noting Williams attended Irish Invasion where he connected with CJ Carr. And this could grow into an important bond as the Irish look to reel in quality receivers in the 2024 class.

Landing Williams is only the latest recruiting victory for first-year coach Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman. The Fighting Irish also have the nation's No. 3 ranked 2023 class.

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com
RICHMOND, Va. – Four University of Richmond men's lacrosse student-athletes earned University Division All-State honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Wednesday in Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario), Luke Frankeny (Wilmington, N.C.), Ray Baran (Berwyn, Pa.) and Jake Saunders (Oakville, Ontario). The Spiders combined with the University of Virginia to make up all 12 spots on the All-State team.

Lanchbury earned All-America honors this season from both USILA and Inside Lacrosse. He finished his Spider career rewriting the record books in career, season and game scoring history. Lanchbury is the all-time leader in points (293), goals (162) and assists (131) in a career.

He finished the season with a program-record 81 points, leading the Spiders to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in eight years. He scored a team-high 40 goals and added 41 assists. His 41 assists set a new single-season record, breaking his own previous mark, while his 40 goals are second most in a single season, trailing only his own season record set in 2019. Lanchbury also owns the program records for games played (70) and games started (69) in a career.

Frankeny was a First Team All-Southern Conference selection this season after transferring in this season from Mount St. Mary's. He ranked third on the team and fourth overall in the SoCon in scoring with 34 goals from the midfield. He scored a goal in 15 out of 16 games this season, including 10 different games with multiple goals. He has recorded 113 goals in his collegiate career after posting 79 at Mount St. Mary's.

Frankeny was named the SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player, leading the Spiders to their fourth NCAA Tournament in program history. He scored eight goals in the Spiders' two games, notching five against High Point and adding three in the championship game victory over Jacksonville.

Baran has been an anchor on the Spiders' defense, helping the team rank second in the conference and eighth in the country in scoring defense at 10.06 per game. He ranks third on the team with 16 caused turnovers and third with 38 ground balls. This marks the second-straight season he has earned All-Conference honors.

He has started 52 out of 53 games in his career as a bedrock of the Spiders' defense. He has caused 52 turnovers in his career while picking up 121 ground balls. He has been part of two NCAA Tournament appearances for the Spiders in 2019 and 2022.

Saunders was named Honorable Mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse. He started 14 out of 15 games this season on defense, helping the Spiders rank eighth in the nation in scoring defense at 10.06 goals per game. He led the team with 23 caused turnovers, leading the team to a ninth place showing in the country as a team with 9.62 caused turnovers per game. He led the Southern Conference and ranked 27th in the country with 1.53 caused turnovers per game.

Saunders ranked second on the team and first among non-faceoff specialists with 33 ground balls. He picked up one of the biggest ground balls of the season in the final minute of regulation in the Southern Conference championship game, sealing the victory over Jacksonville.

Pokémon Go developer Niantic cancels four projects and lays off more than 80 people - The Verge

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

Niantic, which has been trying to replicate the massive success of Pokémon Go with other mobile AR games, is laying off 8 percent of its workforce and canceling four projects, as reported by Bloomberg.

“We recently decided to stop production on some projects and reduce our workforce by about eight percent to focus on our key priorities,” Niantic VP of communications Jonny Thaw said in a statement to The Verge. “We are grateful for the contributions of those leaving Niantic and we are supporting them through this difficult transition.

“This means we can focus on our most important priorities, including PokĂ©mon Go and a select set of new experiences, as well as the Lightship platform. This increased focus, as well our strong core business, puts us in a position to weather the broader economic uncertainty many companies are facing and continue investing in the future of AR.”

According to Bloomberg, the changes mean Niantic is canceling Transformers: Heavy Metal, a game made in partnership with Sleep No More creator Punchdrunk, and two titles codenamed Blue Sky and Snowball. About 85 to 90 people are being let go.

PokĂ©mon Go has proven to be an enduring hit despite being nearly six years old, but other AR games haven’t had quite as much success. Niantic has recently shut down AR games based on the Catan and Harry Potter franchises, and Microsoft shut down Minecraft Earth last year. That said, Niantic still seems committed to making new games — its adorable game Peridot is in a soft launch, and the company just announced an NBA title.

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2 review: great sound with style - The Verge

You don’t buy Bowers & Wilkins headphones out of practicality. The company’s latest over-ear pair, the $399 PX7 S2, isn’t going to be the default, obvious choice for most people shopping for noise-canceling headphones. But where the British audio brand seeks to separate itself from Sony, Bose, and other competitors is in craftsmanship and nailing the small details. These are headphones where the elegant design is just as much of a selling point as sonic performance. With this new model, Bowers & Wilkins is promising advancements in comfort, noise cancellation, and even better sound fidelity. The company delivers on all of those fronts, even if there are still weaknesses elsewhere.

The PX7 S2 headphones look very similar to the outgoing PX7s, with an overall style that has stayed consistent since the original PX wireless headphones from 2017. They look premium and stay that way, fending off the smudges and fingerprints that are common on rivals like Sony’s WH-1000XM5s. Bowers & Wilkins isn’t throwing in fancy materials like carbon fiber this time; instead, the focus is all on comfort. The non-folding PX7 S2s are slightly smaller and lighter than the previous model and now sit closer to your head. The replaceable ear cushions use memory foam for better extended comfort, and the leatherette headband didn’t cause any aching or dull pain on my large head, even during lengthy listening sessions. The headphones come in black, blue (with gold accents), or light gray.

On the right ear cup are the main controls: a slider switch for power leaves no doubt when the headphones are on or off, which I prefer over just pressing and holding a button. There are also dedicated buttons for play / pause and volume. On the left ear cup is a customizable button that, by default, toggles between ANC on, ANC off, and transparency mode. You can remap this to activate your phone’s voice assistant if you wish. The PX7 S2s support Bluetooth multipoint and can pair with two devices simultaneously for added convenience.

Bowers & Wilkins says the revamped 40-millimeter drivers and other acoustic upgrades have ratcheted up sound quality compared to the PX7s with significantly less harmonic distortion. The PX7 S2s support a range of Bluetooth codecs, including aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SBC. More importantly, they also have “significantly angled drivers” that the company says results in superior spatial placement, total consistency, and stereo imaging. The drivers on the older PX7s had a much shallower angle, and Bowers & Wilkins seems confident that the S2s have restored some of its audio magic and should wow anyone who might’ve been unenthused about the PX7s.

Vocals cut through with excellent clarity, bass is deep and rumbly when necessary, and the soundstage is impressively wide and expansive for closed-back headphones. The PX7 S2s come across as big and emotive. They give off a special feeling when listening to them — almost like you’ve got a miniaturized pair of Bowers & Wilkins’ iconic full-size speakers wrapped around your ears.

For the first time, the company offers you some control over the EQ and sound profile in the Bowers & Wilkins Music app for Android and iOS. But instead of a range of EQ sliders to play with, you can only make basic adjustments to bass and treble. I never felt a need to adjust the out-of-box sound: they sound downright fantastic as is. Listening to Muna’s new self-titled album, there was more character and clarity from these headphones than I got from Sony’s 1000XM5 or the Bose QC45s. Apple’s AirPods Max might still edge out Bowers & Wilkins when it comes to detail, but it’s very close, and the PX7 S2s feel more punchy and lively.

If you’d prefer to listen wired, you can only do so using the USB-C port. Like Apple and the AirPod Max, Bowers & Wilkins has made the curious decision to fully eliminate the 3.5mm input on these headphones — though, unlike Apple, it includes a USB-C-to-3.5mm cable in the box. You’re still able to plug into a headphone jack on various devices that way; just don’t go losing the cable. It strikes me as premature for $400 headphones to be ditching the 3.5mm connector, and it feels a bit like companies are learning the wrong lessons from Apple. Most haven’t taken such a drastic step towards all-digital audio, but maybe we’re about to see a trend take hold.

Explaining the move, Bowers & Wilkins told me “it’s simply that 3.5mm is a less-used input in 2022” and noted the advantages of USB-C. The headphones will charge as you listen over a wired USB-C to C connection, for example. And even if there had been a 3.5 input, the PX7 S2s don’t support passive audio; they need battery power to work. “We’ve taken the view that for almost all listeners today, wireless transmission is the most likely use case,” the company told me. It also pointed out that it includes a longer USB-C cable than most headphone makers to aid with different use cases.

Active noise cancellation on the PX7 S2s has noticeably improved over the prior model. I didn’t have a chance to test their flight chops, but they did a commendable job hushing city noise while I was working outside a coffee shop. Bowers & Wilkins estimates that they cut around 30dB of noise from the outside world, and that’s good enough for my use case. Even if the S2s still fall short of best-in-class noise cancellation from Sony, Apple, and Bose, what’s here is more than serviceable and didn’t leave me disappointed considering the high sticker price. The transparency mode is pleasant-sounding and does the trick, but no one has come close to matching just how natural this feature sounds on Apple’s AirPods Max.

Voice call performance is still merely passable. Bowers & Wilkins repositioned some of the microphones for better vocal pickup and clarity, but these aren’t headphones I’d want to use for a day full of Zoom meetings. Battery life is unchanged from the PX7 at 30 hours, which remains perfectly competitive. The headphones now charge faster, juicing up from dead to 100 percent in two hours instead of the three hours it would take their predecessors. And if you’re in a rush, a 15-minute top-off will get you several hours of playback time.

I’ve been quite impressed by the PX7 S2s, so much so that I’d take them even over my trusty Sennheiser Momentum 3 headphones. There are still valid reasons to favor mainstream picks from Sony or Bose: they provide airy comfort and unmatched ANC. But if sound and substance are what you’re after, these headphones demonstrate that Bowers & Wilkins can still hang with the best of them, with an extra dash of elegance and sophistication that you won’t find from most competitors going for mass appeal.

Four Teens Accused in Violent Attack Outside South Station - NBC10 Boston

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

Four teens are accused of a violent attack on a man outside South Station in Boston on Friday, according to the Boston Police Department.

The teens, a 15-year-old from Allston, a 16-year-old from Allston, and two more 16-year-olds from South Boston, will face assault and battery and larceny charges in Boston Municipal juvenile court. The teens were not arrested or publicly identified.

The attack happened near Atlantic Avenue and Summer Street, and sent the 20-year-old victim to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim's father told NBC10 Boston over the weekend that his son is now out of the hospital. He has a broken nose and is recovering from a concussion.

On Tuesday, Adam Neufell’s parents told NBC10 Boston that nothing much has changed regarding their son's health, but the concussion is more serious than they thought. They say -- per doctor’s orders -- their son can’t be on his phone or watch TV, listen to loud music or be stimulated by light -- nothing that can aggravate him as he tries to recover from last week’s brutal attack.

“It’s pretty scary to see something like that happen because it could be you at any time,” said Andres Otero who often walks by South Station at night.

Otero told NBC10 Boston he was glad to hear the update from police Tuesday.

“It’s really good to see that something like that happens and the people responsible can be liable for that,” he added.

Anthony Grant hopes the punishment will be harsh enough to make others think twice.

“You have to send a message to deter them, the teenagers from doing it,” said Grant. “It’s nothing new. Expect the unexpected. You just have to have your guard up.”

"They need to prosecute these kids to the fullest extent. I mean this is unforgivable behavior," Dina Warshall, a friend of the victim's family, told NBC10 Boston a day after the attack. "There's no cause for a group full of punk kids, jumping out of a car, yelling derogatory at another person because of how long their hair is and amongst other things and then to go beat them like that."

Boston police are investigating after a man was violently attacked outside MBTA's South Station.

Friday's incident appears to have been captured on video by a passerby, and shows a group kicking and punching Neufell and shoving his girlfriend. Boston police have said they're aware of a video circulating online that shows the alleged attack but would not confirm it is the same incident. They did note, however, that the video is consistent with what they have learned through their investigation so far.

NBC10 Boston also spoke with the father of the victim Saturday night who said his son was in town with his girlfriend when he was attacked. The couple reportedly had issues with the MBTA and missed the last train of the night Thursday.

The dad says his son and his girlfriend were waiting for her parents to pick them up when a group of four people inside a car started yelling slurs at them. That group then got out of the car and started attacking the man, which can be seen on video. The group drove away after the victim was knocked to the ground unconscious.

The victim's father noted his son is in a band and has long hair, unsure if that's why the group targeted him.

A witness recorded video of the incident -- which has since been widely shared on social media -- and then AirDropped it to the victim's girlfriend.

Boston police said they are investigating the attack and no arrests have been made at this time.

"What reason for four people attacking somebody? It's awful to watch as a parent, as a friend, it's awful," Warshall said. "It's just unexplainable, there's no excuse for it."

"You know, thank God he's alive, but it was absolutely devastating, it was gut wrenching just to watch the video," she added. "It's horrendous."

Miami football recruiting: Four-star WR Nathaniel Joseph commits to Hurricanes - CBS Sports

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com
nathaniel-joseph.jpg

The hits just keep on coming for Miami on the recruiting trail. Nathaniel Joseph, a four-star wide receiver out of Edison High School in Miami, committed Tuesday to the Hurricanes over several Power Five suitors including Louisville and Clemson.

"I love everything about Miami," Joseph said, according to 247Sports. "Even when I sit down and watch film with [offensive coordinator] coach [Josh] Gattis and go over how he wants to use me -- he breaks it down like no other. He lays it out plain and clear how he wants to use me and shows me how I can make an impact in his offense. I mean, it's just great."

News of Joseph's commitment to the Hurricanes comes just two days after Jaden Rashada, a four-star quarterback out of Pittsburg, California, chose coach Mario Cristobal's program over Florida.

Joseph is ranked No. 105 overall and is the 17th-ranked wide receiver in the current recruiting cycle. The 5-foot-8, 170-pounder is slated to play in the All-American Bowl after the season. Andrew Ivins, southeast recruiting analyst for 247Sports, provided this scouting report on the newest member of the Miami recruiting class.

"A playmaking slot receiver with an elite burst that doubles as a dangerous return man," Ivins wrote. "Can attack the flats and turn short little drive routes into long gains. Ability to quickly start/stop makes it difficult for defenders to corral him. Makes up for his smaller catch radius with his overall feel for the position as he understands how to beat zone coverage and work for his quarterback. Tracks the ball well over his shoulder and owns rather reliable hands. Not much context available when it comes to top-end speed, but was able to break 4.2 in the short shuttle the spring before his junior season and has outran plenty of talented defenses under the lights down in South Florida.

"Has experience lining up in the backfield and could be utilized on jet sweeps or quick swing passes following pre-snap motion. Will need to develop some core strength once he reaches the next level as it won't be as easy to slip away from college-sized linebackers and safeties."

Joseph is the ninth player to commit to the Hurricanes in the current recruiting class. That class is currently ranked No. 36 overall in the 247Sports composite Class of 2023 team recruiting rankings.
