OAKLAND — One man was killed and four other men were wounded in separate shootings Saturday night and Sunday morning in different areas of the city, authorities said.
None of the shootings, which happened about four hours apart, appear to be related at this time, authorities said.
The fatal shooting happened about 1:19 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Dimond Avenue in the Dimond district.
An anonymous caller told police a man was on the ground bleeding. Police found a 60-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:48 a.m.
Police have not released the man’s name but said they believe he lived in Oakland. No motive has been determined for the shooting and no arrests have been made.
The death is the 35th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 39 homicides.
About 11:37 p.m. Saturday a 31-year-old man was shot as he walked in the 1100 block of Market Street in West Oakland. A parked car was also hit by gunfire but no one else was injured.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition. Police don’t have a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
About 11:19 p.m. a 44-year-old man was shot just after he left a liquor store in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in West Oakland. Some parked vehicles and a building were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported.
The wounded man got his own transportation to a hospital. His condition was not available. Police have not determined a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
About 10:35 p.m. Saturday a 22-year-old man was shot as he drove in the 1300 block of MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland by someone in another vehicle. The wounded man’s vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.
A motive for the shooting has not been released and no arrests have been made.
About 9:31 p.m. Saturday a 38-year-old man was shot several times as he walked near the intersection of 96th Avenue and Olive Street in East Oakland. He got a ride to a hospital from another person. His condition was not available.
Police have not determined a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the fatal shooting and up to $5,000 in each of the other shootings for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.
