Amateur baseball roundup: Chaos outlast Four Corners in 11 innings - The Daily Republic

HAYES -- Colome racked up 15 hits, but it was a wild pitch that sent home Carter Brickman in the 11th inning of the Chaos’ 5-4 Pony Hills League win over Four Corners on Sunday.

Jackson Kinzer led off the game with a solo home run. He, Carter Brickman and Joey Cole all finished with two hits. Ethan Vobr went 4-for-5 with two doubles and drove in a pair of runs. Kinzer also picked up the win, as he held Four Corners scoreless in the final 2.1 innings. Vobr struck out five and gave up four runs (three earned) in 8.2 innings.

Brad Hand and Noah Hainey each had two hits for Four Corners, as Hainey also hit a double. Andrew McCloud drove in a pair of runs. Austin Hand suffered the loss, as he struck out five batters and allowed an earned run in 2.2 relief innings.

Colome (6-6) plays in the District 3B tournament on Thursday. Four Corners (4-7) plays South Central on Tuesday in Gregory.

CANOVA -- Trey Krier and Derek Miller combined to throw a shutout in Canova’s Cornbelt League win over Colman on Sunday to secure the No. 2 seed in the District 4B tournament.

Garrett Gassman had a team-high three hits for the Gang. Justin Miller and Kenny Gassman each added two hits.

Canova (8-4 Cornbelt League) travels to the Yankton Tappers on Wednesday. Colman (4-8 Cornbelt League) plays in the District 4B tournament on Friday in Dell Rapids.

SALEM -- Flandreau scored multiple runs in each of the final four innings to top Salem in Cornbelt League action on Sunday.

Flandreau hit four home runs and five doubles, as it finished with 11 hits as a team. It also struck out seven batters on the mound.

Jon Forster finished 3-for-4 and drove in a run for Salem. Brian Duxbury hit a two-run home run, while Cole Cheeseman, Steve Mehlbrech and David Novak all hit a double. Cheeseman drove in two runs, as well. David Kirby struck out eight batters, but allowed two unearned runs on a hit and five walks to suffer the loss in a five-inning start.

Flandreau (6-6 Cornbelt League) and Salem (1-9 Cornbelt League) play in the District 4B tournament on Friday in Dell Rapids.
