All four Quakers were preseason first team selections. Junior wide receivers Ryan Cragun and Rory Starkey, Jr. were honored on the offensive side of the ball, while seniors Prince Emili and Brian O'Neill garnered accolades on defense.
Cragun is coming off a breakout sophomore season for the Red and Blue. In 2019, he earned second-team All-Ivy honors after finishing with 58 catches for 885 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore, he averaged 98.3 yards receiving per game and ranked third in the Ivy League in receptions, receiving yards and receiving yards per game. At Yale on October 26, Cragun racked up 13 receptions for 208 yards at Yale. Both his 13 catches and his 208 receiving yards were the fifth-most in a single game in program history.
Starkey, Jr. also had a monster sophomore season for Penn. Last autumn, he ended up with 39 catches for 643 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns. Starkey had at least one receiving TD in each of the final five games of the 2019 season. He ranked fourth in the Ivy League in TD catches and fifth in the conference in yards per catch (16.5).
Emili is the lone returning Quaker who earned first-team All-Ivy honors in 2019. He was a handful for opposing offensive lines last year as he finished with 65 tackles, including a team-high 14.0 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. Emili ranked second in the Ivy League in TFLs and led the Quakers with 7 QBH. He was a Stats FCS National Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention in mid-November after totaling 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks against Cornell.
O'Neill was a menace to opposing offenses at linebacker last fall. He was named second-team All-Ivy as a junior after ending the year with 58 tackles, 12.5 TFLs, four sacks, three interceptions and one fumble recovery. He was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week in early November after recording six solo stops, 2.0 sacks, returning a fumble recovery for a touchdown and registering two interceptions against Brown. A year ago, O'Neill ranked fifth in the Ivy League in TFLs and second in interceptions.
The Ivy League announced on July 8 that no intercollegiate competition would take place in the 2020 fall semester due to the continued coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
