OAKLAND — A 23-year-old man was killed and three other men were wounded Thursday night in an East Oakland shooting, authorities said.
The name of the man killed has not been released. The other men, all in their 20s, remained hospitalized Friday.
Police said all four lived in Oakland but did not say if they lived in the area where the shooting happened. Police also have not yet said how the men are related.
The shooting happened at about 9:59 p.m. Thursday in the 4500 block of Fairfax Avenue, a residential area a block east of High Street and just west of Courtland Creek Park.
The four men were standing outside when at least one person began shooting at them, authorities said.
The 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victims were taken by ambulances to a hospital.
Police have not released a motive yet for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
The killing is the 52nd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 49 homicides in the city.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $25,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
