We’ll try again in 2021
Hopefully the third time will be a charm, and it will be on the ballot in May 2021. All I can say is (Lapeer City Commission) Dan (Osentoski) and many others are determined to do so, as evidenced by the 220 petition signatures obtained on our last attempt (to hold election on question of adultuse marijuana sales in Lapeer).

Time to leave Lapeer?
U-Haul is going to do good business in Lapeer when people move like our family out since the town has been sold to the marijuana industry. Davison is looking pretty good to us right now. If officials don’t stop this nonsense, it will be time to leave Lapeer, and we just moved here. We’re not liking this direction one bit.

Not safe to open school buildings this fall
The first priority of educators is to keep students safe. That said, clearly school buildings should not be opened this fall. Science is clear that it is not safe — not one student or teacher should be forced to lie on the sacrificial block. Not one parent should be challenged to decide whether their child should go to school or not. It is not safe.

Whitmer not a ‘dictator’
This is for Mr. Gerlach (owner of Gerlach’s Bowling Center in Lapeer). When the doctor puts you on a diet to save your life, is he a dictator? Your dictator is in Washington, D.C. calling himself the president. I would get your priorities straight before I go around calling names, but oh yes that’s what Republicans do.

Stop name calling
Mr. Gerlach should be careful with his name calling. This is a small town, and people can choose to take their business elsewhere like Davison. He’s not entitled to anything, other than to stay alive which the governor has tried to allow if people would only listen. And I didn’t see them wearing face masks.

We need recycling!
What are we doing about recycling? There used to be recycling on the first and third Saturday, but now there are no plans to continue it. We have to have it as a community. Our dumpsters and landfills are filling with plastic and metal that will never dissolve. Our community should be first to have a plan for recycling.
