The OC Fair & Event Center is seeing a British invasion this weekend, when a Beatles tribute band plays two nights of concerts for excited fans.

The Fab Four treated visitors to selections from the legendary band’s catalog on Friday and will again Saturday – and in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the concerts were held as drive-in events.

The band is a popular fixture at the annual OC Fair and often sells out the Pacific Amphitheatre, fair spokeswoman Terry Moore said. With the fair canceled due to the pandemic, officials wanted to offer “something safe and novel, to get people out of the house and give them something to do.”

With the fairgrounds largely idle, other events for people in their cars are being considered, Moore said, with a drive-through chance to grab fair-style food likely up next.
