Two Four Two Fire causing evacuations in Klamath County - KDRV

UPDATE, 9/7/20, 10:50 pm — The Two Four Two Fire is now estimated at over 1,000 acres and "growing rapidly," according to the South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership. The fire is burning on both sides of Highway 97 now with "extreme fire behavior."

According to SCOFMP, there is no containment on the fire.

The cause is currently under investigation. The fire was initially reported near the Williamson River Campground, according to SCOFMP.

There is a Level 3 Evacuation for Collier State Park and residents to the west of the State Park, as well as residents in Woodland Park. Most of the residents in the area have been evacuated.

There is a Level 2 Evacuation notice in place for Oregon State Highway 422 North between Highway 97 and Oregon State Highway 62, as well as for Highway 62 between mileposts 94 and 98 – from the intersection with Highway 422 North to the State Fish Hatchery. Residents in this area should be prepared to evacuate quickly if notified.

There is a Level 1 Evacuation notice south of Highway 422 North to the junction of Highways 97 and 62 south of Chiloquin. Residents in this area should be monitoring the situation and taking measures to prepare for evacuation.


COLLIER SPRINGS, Ore. — There is a new fire burning near Collier Springs off Highway 97. The highway is now closed between milepost 241 and 249 in both directions.

Klamath County Sheriff & local fire departments are working on evacuations. Collier State Park has been evacuated and the Klamath County Sheriff's Office and local fire departments are currently working on evacuations.

Those with evacuation questions should go physically to Kla-Mo-Ya Casino where the Red Cross is establishing a shelter.

The fire is estimated to be 10-15 acres with short-range spotting and pushing to the south.
