Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman was recognized for his play last week

DALLAS – For the second time this season, Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Grayson McCall was one of four freshmen named to the Football Writers Association of America's (FWAA) "Fresh Four" list this week.

Joining McCall on the "Fresh Four" list was Spencer Rattler (Oklahoma), Jermaine Burton (Georgia), and Brandon Joseph (Northwestern).

The starting quarterback on the first Sun Belt team to ever start a season 8-0, McCall turned in yet another impressive performance in the Chanticleers' 34-23 win over Appalachian State last Saturday. McCall was 12-for-21 for 200 yards and two touchdowns through the air and also rushed 14 times for 69 yards and a score.

This season, he has thrown 18 touchdowns compared to just one interception, the best touchdown to interception ratio in the country this season.

No. 16/17 Coastal (8-0, 6-0 Sun Belt) will be back in action this Saturday, Nov. 28, as the Chanticleers hit the road for a cross-divisional matchup at Texas State (2-9, 2-5 Sun Belt). Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
