Boulder County reports four new deaths, 109 new cases - Boulder Daily Camera

Boulder County on Thursday reported four new coronavirus deaths and 109 new cases.

Boulder County spokesperson Chana Goussetis said that four people with COVID-19 died between Dec. 3 and Dec. 15. Their ages were in the 50s, 70s and 80s. Only one was a resident at a long-term care facility.

The four new deaths bring the county’s death toll to 163, not 164, because a previously reported death was an erroneous duplicate error, Goussetis said.

The number of cases within long-term care facilities has remained high, Goussetis said.

“In the past two weeks alone, there have been 127 COVID-19 cases related to long-term care facility residents,” Goussetis said. “There are currently 18 confirmed active outbreaks in Boulder County long-term care facilities. In addition, there are many staff of Boulder County long-term care facilities who have tested positive but are not captured in our Boulder County data because they reside in another county.”

To date, Boulder County Public Health reported 13,487 positive or probable cases. There have been 390 people hospitalized. As of Thursday, there were 86 people in the hospital. There are 429.2 new cases per 100,000 people in the past 14 days.

The University of Colorado Boulder reported on its online dashboard Thursday that four positive test results were found out of 313 diagnostic tests. There were also 474 monitoring tests taken. The campus had no isolation space in use. Since the start of the semester on Aug. 24, there have been 1,705 positive tests. There have been a total of 15,307 diagnostic tests performed and 71,749 monitoring tests taken.

The Boulder Valley School District reported on its online coronavirus dashboard that there are seven positive cases, one case that is symptomatic or pending test results, two probable cases and one active case at the Boulder Transportation Terminal.

Boulder Valley School District officials on Wednesday were making some adjustments to the website, said Carolyn Nohe, district communications manager. She said this may have caused some people to get an error message when they tried to connect. Nohe said the issue has since been fixed and that people should be able to access the dashboard again.

In the St. Vrain Valley School District there are 21 active cases, split between 15 students and six staff, the online dashboard showed. To date, the district has had 526 confirmed positive cases.

Statewide, the Colorado Department of Public reported that there have been 300,414 cases. Among cases, there have been 4,226 deaths and of those, 3,321 deaths were due to COVID-19. There have been 16,704 people hospitalized. Of Colorado’s roughly 5.7 million population, 1,998,476 people have been tested.
