Ex-Quinnipiac, Sound Tiger St. Denis signs with Binghamton - CTPost

Former Quinnipiac forward Travis St. Denis’ four-year stay with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers has ended. The Binghamton Devils announced Saturday that St. Denis signed an AHL contract with the team.

Only six players have appeared in more Sound Tigers games than St. Denis’ 259, and only seven have scored more than his 136 points. He ranks fifth in the team’s 19-year history with 65 goals, eighth with 22 power-play goals and second with 14 game-winning goals (Jeff Hamilton had 25, including a league-record 15 in 2003-04).

St. Denis, 28, was Bridgeport’s leading scorer in 2017-18 with 44 points.

His four years in Bridgeport followed four at Quinnipiac in which he scored 60 goals, tied for sixth in the school’s Division I history, and 65 assists. He was named to the all-tournament team at the 2016 Frozen Four as a senior. The Bobcats’ all-time leader in games, Matt Sorteberg, played only one more than St. Denis’ 162 at Quinnipiac.

The Devils will play their games in Newark, N.J., this season, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 5.

St. Denis was for a time one of four Quinnipiac products in Bridgeport, along with defenseman Devon Toews and twin forwrds Connor and Kellen Jones. None remain in the organization.
