Three people who died were from Stearns County, in the age ranges of 60-64, 65-69 and 75-79. Swift County reported one death, in a person in the 85-89 age range.
Stearns recorded 72 confirmed and 10 probable cases over the weekend. Cases reported by other counties in the area — Kandiyohi, 15 confirmed, three probable; Meeker, 10 confirmed; Yellow Medicine, eight confirmed one probable; Renville, eight confirmed; Redwood, five confirmed; Lac qui Parle, three confirmed; Big Stone and Pope, two confirmed, one probable in each county; and Chippewa and Swift, two confirmed in each.
Statewide there were 2,596 newly reported confirmed cases and 297 newly reported probable cases. Probable cases are based on antigen testing. Confirmed cases are based on polymerase chain reaction tests.

That brings the state's cumulative total to 446,380, which includes 428,519 confirmed and 17,861 probable cases.
Of the cumulative number of cases, 34,819 of them are health care workers.
There were 77 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 5,710 deaths from confirmed cases and 217 from probable cases.
Most of the deaths, 3,779, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 4,917 of the people who have died were 70 or older.
The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.
Since the start of the pandemic, the number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the number of deaths includes:
- Big Stone County: 445 confirmed, 10 probable; 3 deaths
- Chippewa County: 1,273 confirmed, 36 probable; 32 deaths

5,480 confirmed, 54 probable; 71 deaths - Lac qui Parle County: 602 confirmed, 55 probable; 16 deaths
- Meeker County: 1,962 confirmed, 30 probable; 33 deaths
- Pope County: 727 confirmed, 10 probable, 5 deaths
- Redwood County: 1,363 confirmed, 32 probable; 27 deaths
- Renville County: 1,320 confirmed, 51 probable; 39 deaths
- Stearns County: 17,210 confirmed, 603 probable; 187 deaths
- Swift County: 808 confirmed, 23 probable, 18 deaths
- Yellow Medicine County: 866 confirmed, 69 probable, 14 deaths
The state is now also reporting daily vaccine administration numbers. The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. Health care workers and long-term care facility residents are the priority populations currently.
As of Sunday’s report, 184,943 people have received one dose and 35,800 have completed the two-shot vaccine series statewide.
