Jefferson Public Health officials have reported four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county since Monday.

As of Wednesday, April 28, the county has been notified of 386 positive tests of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic last year.

The four new cases this week involved two men and two women.

Jefferson County Public Health does not provide details of COVID cases, but a statistical comparison of the new cases added to the county's COVID-19 numbers show two of the new infections were in mid-county residents, as well as one from Port Townsend and one from south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, West Jefferson).

Three of the new cases were found in residents in their 60s; the fourth was in a person in their 20s.

COVID-19 test results were still pending Wednesday for 37 residents. Another 10 potential coronavirus contacts remained in isolation April 28.

Based on age, the greatest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases — 75 in all — have been found in the age bracket of residents under the age of 20.

The next largest age group of people who have gotten the coronavirus are people in their 60s; 69 residents in that age bracket have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 22,623 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 22,200 tests have come back negative.

Based on gender, 197 males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County, and 189 females have tested positive.

A total of 26 residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and three deaths have been linked to COVID-19.

County health officials reported that 351 people have recovered from COVID-19.

People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.
