BOSTON, Mass. - Four members of the UMass Lowell field hockey team have earned 2021 America East All-Conference honors, led by freshman Eleonore Boekhorst (Bilthoven, Netherlands), who was named Goalkeeper of the Year, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Boekhorst becomes the first winner of a major award since the River Hawks elevated to Division I and joined the America East back in 2013. The keeper garnered All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team nods, as well. She was joined on the league's First Team by senior Clara Defourt (Brussels, Belgium), who was also named to the America East All-Academic Team. Freshman back Alissia de Vries (The Hague, Netherlands) earned America East All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team honors, while junior Lindsey Kilpatrick (Manlius, N.Y.) rounded out the award winners as an All-Academic Team selection.

"We are very proud of the achievements of our selected honorees," said Head Coach Shannon LeBlanc. "Clearly, their individual efforts throughout the season impressed the conference coaches."

Boekhorst has turned in an extraordinary rookie season, starting all 11 games in the cage for the River Hawks so far for a 7-4 record. She boasts a Division I program-best four shutout performances and totals 58 saves. She is currently ranked 11th in the country with an .817 save percentage. Boekhorst, who led the league with a .998 goals against average during conference play, was named America East Defensive Player of the Week three times and Rookie of the Week twice for five weekly awards during the 2021 regular season.

"Leo has been the backbone of our defensive unit this year and her goalkeeping stats are truly impressive for a first-year player," explained LeBlanc. "She demands excellence from herself every day, whether it be in a game or a training session. We are pleased that the conference recognized her talents this season."

Defourt, a co-captain for the River Hawks, is now a two-time All-Conference recipient. This season, she sits second on the team with three assists and seven total points through 11 games. She adds two goals, good for third on the squad. Her 17 career assists rank first on the program's DI record list, as well. In the classroom, Defourt boasts a 3.79 GPA in economics.

de Vries has made her presence felt on the back line for UMass Lowell this season. The freshman is part of the team's defensive unit that ranks second in the league with an average of just over one goal allowed per game.

Kilpatrick owns a 3.90 GPA as a mathematics major. She is a three-time NFHCA National Academic Squad honoree and Scholar of Distinction. Additionally, she has earned a spot on the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll each year. This season on the field for the River Hawks, she has logged one assist in seven games played.

"We truly believe that the entire team had a helping hand in these awards and I know the honorees would agree," concluded LeBlanc. "Our team's training minutes far exceed our game minutes, and in each training session our team elevates each other by their competitive spirit and their drive to elevate our skill level. I'm proud of our honorees, and also proud of our entire team for an amazing season so far."
