Softball Readies for Four Game Set at Saint Joseph's - La Salle University Athletics

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (0-23, 0-16 A-10) readies for a four-game series at Saint Joseph's (19-17, 12-2 A-10) over the course of the weekend. One game will be played Friday at 3 p.m., with a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday, and a finale on Sunday at noon. All four games will stream nationally on ESPN+.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle is fresh off a close battle with conference leading Fordham. The Explorers fell 3-0 and 3-1 in the Saturday twin bill.
  • Freshman Tessa Dodson is leading the Blue & Gold in hitting with a .300 batting average.
  • Sophomores Maddy Little and Victoria Zatko are second with a .258 and .250, respectively.
  • Little leads the team with 16 hits, while Zatko paces the squad in home runs, RBIs, runs, doubles, and total bases.
  • Junior Sarah Dowalo and sophomore Regan Ware have been the workhorses for La Salle in the circle.
  • Dowalo has tossed seven complete games over 71.2 innings of work. She's fanned 36 opponents and holds a 6.74 ERA.
  • Ware pitched five complete games in 49.0 innings. The Crewe, Va. native has 24 strikeouts and a 12.43 ERA.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
  • Saint Joseph's lost its most recent contest to city foe Drexel, 8-5.
  • St. Joe's is riding a six-game conference winning streak heading into the weekend.
  • Collectively, the Hawks are hitting .321 with nine batters above .300.
  • On the rubber, the pitching staff bolsters a 4.20 ERA and a .291 batting average against.
LAST TIME OUT:
  •  Saint Joseph's swept the four-game series at West Campus Field back in March.
