Bryn Forbes out-scored Jimmy Butler in four-game sweep of Miami Heat - Spartan Avenue

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

For the second time in a week, Bryn Forbes was the topic of conversation in an NBA playoff game.

No, that sentence wasn’t just a long typo.

Forbes has been playing out of his mind in his first postseason with the Milwaukee Bucks. Just days after going off with six 3-pointers in nine attempts, the former Michigan State star put up 22 points in the series-clinching win over the Heat with seven 3-pointers on 14 attempts.

He finished the game shooting 46 percent from the floor, missing his only two-point try, but his plus-minus was incredible at plus-21 which was second on the team behind only Brook Lopez.

But there’s one statistic from the series victory that stands out above the rest and it almost doesn’t even sound correct: Forbes out-scored Jimmy Butler in the series.

Forbes, a former unknown Cleveland State transfer and undrafted free agent who earned a roster spot with the Spurs before signing with the Bucks this offseason, out-scored former first-round pick, and five-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler.

How does this even happen?

Butler had a nightmare series while Forbes put up two 20-plus point games while making six and seven 3-pointers, respectively.

Forbes finished the series with 60 points in four games and Butler had 58.

Bryn Forbes had the NBA landscape buzzing

Any time someone like Butler is out-dueled by a role player for an entire series, it’s going to catch the attention of the NBA world. This was no exception.

Everyone was talking about Forbes out-scoring Butler with yet another breakout game and it might not stop any time soon.

Michigan State fans already knew Forbes was a lights-out shooter and one of the best in school history, but now the NBA is starting to realize just how special of a shooter he is.
