Four people were arrested Sunday night following an attack on four others at a Fremont liquor store that involved knives and a machete, police said.
Two of the suspects are men, and police in a statement identified one of them as 27-year-old Diadem Velcu, of Fremont. Velcu was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, police said.
The other man remained hospitalized following the incident. Police did not identify him, and said he will be booked formally when he’s released form the hospital.
The two other suspects are juveniles, police said.
According to police, officers responded to the 4900 block of Stevenson Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. after four people in a liquor store were attacked by the four suspects while at the register. Three of the attackers were armed with knives and a machete, police said.
Two of the victims were injured and hospitalized but expected to survive, police said.
Police said all eight people knew each other and that they don’t believe there is a threat to the public. They also said they do not believe the attack to be gang-related.
No other information was released immediately.
