Four Colonels Receive Postseason Baseball Honors
Designated hitter Caleb Upshaw was a first team All-OVC selection.

Upshaw a 6-foot-2 junior, led the team with a .325 batting average, 11 home runs, 48 RBIs, a .560 slugging percentage and a .401 on-base percentage. He also scored 36 runs. The Newnan, Georgia native ranked fifth in the OVC in total bases (112), sixth in RBIs and was tied for ninth in home runs.
Toward the end of the season, Upshaw put together a streak of reaching base in 23 straight games, the longest by a Colonel this season. He led the team with 19 multi-hit games, including six with three hits or more, and 13 multi-RBI games.
Williams, a 6-foot-6 redshirt junior, ended the season with a 3-8 record and a 4.10 ERA. In 83 and one-third innings he struck out 92 batters and limited opponents to a .238 average. He ranked second in strike outs, second in innings pitched, sixth in opposing batting average and seventh in ERA. The right-hander was at his best over the final eight of his 13 starts, posting a 3-3 record with a 2.41 ERA and 62 strike outs in 56 innings of work. He allowed just 15 earned runs and 15 walks during that time and limited batters to a .204 average. He had six quality starts over that period. In his final start, the Maysville, Kentucky native struck out a career-best 11 hitters.
Brian, a 5-foot-10 redshirt sophomore, led the OVC with 10 saves while compiling a 2.48 ERA and striking out 48 in 32 and two-thirds innings. He allowed only nine runs, 26 hits and did not give up a home run. Opponents had a .224 batting average against him. The Brandenburg, Kentucky native led the league in games finished (22) and was sixth in appearances (25).
Brian started the season by pitching three combined innings in two appearances at No. 15 Georgia Tech and No. 4 Louisville. He did not allow a hit or a run, walked one, struck out three and earned the save in Eastern's 9-6 victory over Tech. In a second game against Louisville later in the season, he earned the save after pitching one hitless inning with a strike out against the then seventh ranked Cardinals.
Ewell, a 6-foot-3 freshman, was second on the team with a .303 batting average. He had seven home runs, 34 RBIs and 31 runs. He tied with two others for the team lead in walks. He was second on the team with 11 multi-RBI games. Ewell hit for the cycle against North Dakota State on May 20. The Calumet City, Illinois native had a single in the first inning, a solo home run in the third, a double in the fourth and then legged out a triple on a ball hit to the gap in right center in the bottom of the sixth. He finished 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs.
