
Defender Sydney Canney (junior, Adel, ADM HS), midfielder Bridget Lynch (sophomore, Northglenn, Colo., Jefferson Academy) and midfielder Katie Wang (senior, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Park Center HS) were named to the women's list while defender Brant Mueller (junior, Bettendorf) received the men's honor.
The new award was established for member head coaches to submit deserving players based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Player has achieved quality performance on the field;
- Represented the highest ideals of team leadership;
- Exhibited quality character attributes including sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, officials and the game;
- Made other significant contributions to the benefit of the program and the community.
Canney, Lynch and Wang were each named to the American Rivers Academic All-Conference squad. Wang was co-recipient of Central's MVP award and won the Most Inspirational Player Award. She and Canney were team co-captains. Wang was also nominated for the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
Mueller was named Central's most valuable men's player and served as team captain.
Mueller was among two American Rivers Conference men's players cited while Canney, Lynch and Wang were among eight league players receiving the women's honor.
