'Sound On': Underwater Photographer Listens in as School of Dolphin Swim By - Yahoo Sports

An underwater photographer swimming alongside a pod of dolphins off the coast of the Maldives recorded the whistles, clicks and even a roaring sound as the group passed him by.

This footage was captured by Rizkhan Mohamed of Shadow Palm Tours in the Maldives, with the caption on the original post reading “sound on”.

While dolphins do not possess vocal chords, an article on dolphin sounds from Whales.org notes that they make two kinds of noises: whistles and clicks.

It’s thought each dolphin has a unique “signature whistle”, which is used to identify an individual.
