Tropical Depression Four has formed off the Southeast coast, but it will be short-lived with landfall expected by Monday evening.
The tropical depression is centered about 110 miles east-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina. This system is battling unfavorable upper-level winds and should move inland soon, which will prevent it from undergoing any significant intensification.
If Tropical Depression Four strengthens slightly in the next few hours, it could be upgraded to Tropical Storm Danny. For that reason, tropical storm warnings have been issued on the South Carolina coast from Edisto Beach northeastward to South Santee River. That's where winds of 40 mph are possible near the immediate coast by late Monday afternoon.
Tropical Depression Four is forecast to dissipate over Georgia or South Carolina by Tuesday morning.
Current Information and Projected Path
This system won't bring major impacts to the Southeast, but some locally heavy rainfall is expected.
The immediate coasts of Georgia and southern South Carolina could see a few inches of rain into Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
It might also spread rain toward parts of northern Georgia, upstate South Carolina and northern Alabama by Tuesday.
Localized flash flooding is a possibility in all of the areas mentioned above.

A storm surge of 1 to 3 feet above normal tide levels is possible if the peak surge occurs at high tide on the South Carolina coast from Port Royal Sound to South Santee River.
Rip currents will also be a threat on the Southeast coast and beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water.
