UNC Basketball: 2022 Four-star PG Seth Trimble commits to the Tar Heels - Tar Heel Blog

suaralifestyle.blogspot.com

This evening, four-star 2022 point guard Seth Trimble announced that he has committed to play for the University of North Carolina. This decision was was announced following Trimble’s official visit to campus last week, and his commitment gives Hubert Davis his second commitment of the 2022 class. Trimble chose UNC over assumed favorite Michigan, along with a few other Big Ten programs.

For those who aren’t aware, Seth Trimble is the younger brother of former Tar Heel J.P. Tokoto. Much like his brother, Trimble is known as a player with elite athleticism that can soar to the rim despite only being 6’3. To give you an idea, check out this YouTube video of some of his dunks.

Highlight reels aside, Trimble is best known for his ability to penetrate defenses and attack the basket. This isn’t to say that he can’t shoot the ball, as he does have a really good looking jump shot. The last comparison I will make to his brother is that he gets a lot of elevation off of his pull-up jumper, which should help when he takes on some of the bigger guards at the college level. It also helps with his ability to rebound — during his junior season, Trimble averaged an impressive 5.9 rebounds per game. As far as defense goes, a few recruiting analysts have confirmed that he is a very good defender that has the potential to guard multiple positions. Considering the level of fluidity that it seems like Hubert Davis’ system has, that should help the Tar Heels quite a bit.

Going back to his stats sheet, Trimble finished his junior season averaging 23.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists for Menomonee Falls High School. He also shot 54.6% from field goal range and 35.1 from deep, which helps give an idea of how polished his jumper is. Nationally he is the ninth-best point guard in the country, and he is also the 54th best overall player.

Landing a commitment from Seth Trimble was huge for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels. They run the risk of losing Caleb Love to the pros next spring if he has a significantly better season than his freshman year, and Trimble’s commitment provides some much-needed depth at the point guard position. Trimble and RJ Davis could still be joined by at least one more guy, however, as UNC is currently battling it out for five-star recruit Jaden Bradley.

What do you think of UNC’s newest commitment? Let us known in the comments below.
