
LOGAN COUNTY (HOI) — Authorities say four individuals from Washington, Ill., including three juveniles, were killed in a Wednesday night car crash in Logan County.
Another juvenile from Washington, who was in the same vehicle as the four who were killed, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The fatal crash happened at around 10:11 p.m. on Interstate 55 at milepost 122, according to a press release by the Illinois State Police.
A 2016 Chrysler Pacifica that was occupied by all five Washington residents was traveling northbound on the interstate when it lost control in heavy rain, skidded across the median and was struck by a semi-tractor trailer that was traveling southbound.
The four occupants of the Pacifica who died, a 47-year-old male, a 16-year-old female, a 17-yea-old female and a 17-year-old male, all from Washington, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the ISP.
The juvenile that was transported to the hospital was a 13-year-old female.
A passenger of the semi-tractor trailer was transported an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The identity of those who died has not been released by authorities.
