Governor Holcomb has said 98.5% of COVID-19 infections in our state are found in the unvaccinated. Yet only 48% of our residents are vaccinated. 36 people in our state died last week due to the virus. It is time to step up and get your shot.
If you refuse a COVID-19 vaccine and later end up in the hospital, your health insurance company suffers a great financial burden. It would make sense for them to charge higher rates similar to if you choose to smoke. Your choice, you can pay more or you can get protected. Sometimes choices have financial consequences.
I recently read that “if you are making wildly disparaging comments about the vaccine, you may be responsible for someone’s death”. You need to keep your opinions to yourself.
Over the past few years, the Independence Day holiday has just made me sad and angry. This year is no exception. Where Old Glory used to be figuratively used as a cudgel to suppress dissent under the guise of patriotism, this year it was literally used to batter and maim Capitol police during an attempt to overthrow the government. Those flag-wavers don’t care and never will. They don’t love our country or our freedom but boy, do they love that flag. As such my July 4th soundtrack this year centered around the song “Stars and Stripes” whose lyrics are in part: “Don’t fly those stripes, those stars and stripes for me ... They stand for greed, they stand for hate, but nothing I believe”.
Happy 4th of July! Let’s all try to keep what our forefathers fought for almost 250 years ago, a robust democracy where people have a voice in our government.
The Republicans’ worst nightmare is not Biden, Harris, Pelosi, or Schumer. It is January 6th, the insurrection! Abraham Lincoln once said, " If we lose our freedom, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Republicans now know they can’t hide, deny or justify the attack on our Capitol. More significant, they can’t blame Democrats. What happened to the law and order party? Hypocrisy is sometimes like the cicada. It is going to reveal itself!
A radical conservative who frequently posts stuff on YouTube and participated in the January 6th riot, just visited the border along with several Republican members of Congress, chatting it up with them and boasting about how border authorities were “herding” refugees, as though they were animals. This guy, who pals around with GOP elected representatives, has yet to be charged with anything, although his active participation in the riot has been widely posted. Is he being protected? Sure seems that way.
Just because Quickly prints a majority of backward-thinking lefty views, it doesn’t mean that a majority of people are Democrats. It simply means this paper is trying to do what most of the fake news does: spread one-sided viewpoints and the Orange Man haters will gobble it up as the truth. There are no honest news outlets anymore, aside from Fox News. They always have both sides of the story, and CNN wonders why they have lost 70% of their viewers. But they keep trying to “report” anything Trump-related in a desperate attempt to pass it as news and boost their sagging ratings. Like the perpetual saga of the overblown insurrection.
So you think giving three hundred dollars a week should go to those taking a job? That sounds like you support a guaranteed wage. We finally agree. A guaranteed wage will allow companies to remain competitive in a global economy while insuring those working full time do not remain in poverty. Let’s do it.
The Post-Trib sure is one sided. Seems to be catering to the Dems, as they write the majority of the Quicklies. I guess that may be because most Republicans are at work and can’t write in ....
I work at a Big Box store and we have been trying to hire since the virus broke out. The store had to resort to hiring a outside firm to come in and stock our shelves. We start at $15 an hour and no one wants to work.
People do not even understand how this country works. Ask someone to name their favorite sports player, or a reality show cast member. They will spit out one name after another. Then ask them to name at least one person on the Supreme Court. They probably don’t even know how many are women or that there are nine members on the court.
There is a difference between the president selecting a Supreme Court judge as called out in his normal duties and packing the court. Look it up!
I will give you all the respect you need, but I don’t need to like you.
If we pay people a fair hourly wage, they will take a job rather than collecting unemployment. If companies offer poverty wages, the $300 extra unemployment gives them a choice. Not a bad deal for someone who worked full time and was still below the poverty level.
