Smooth driving on Davison Road
Thank you, Lapeer County Road Commission for the beautiful new road (Davison Road) in front of our home. The new pavement was badly needed, and now it’s so smooth all the way to the county (Genesee) line going to Davison where we shop. Last year they paved Elba Road, so it’s really nice around here now.

Put Bowers Road on the ‘to-do’ paving list
I drive a delivery truck. Davison Road is awesome. Now they need to repave Bowers Road from Lapeer to Van Dyke. It’s awful, from end to end. Bumpy and uneven. Hope it’s on the “to-do” list.

Pave Court Street
Can the city (City of Lapeer) please repave Court Street from Elm to McCormick? Our employees deserve better than this third-world road. Rather than a dog park, fix the roads first around tax-paying businesses.

‘Thanks’ to DTE workers
I know it’s their job, but the DTE Energy linemen and women deserve our thanks for doing an exceptional job this summer to restore electrical power after the frequent storms we’ve had. It’s dangerous work and often during bad weather conditions. Thank you.

Grateful for Gateway
Gateway Assembly is a godsend in our community. Their food assistance programs have twice helped my family get through rough patches. God bless the church and all their volunteers who are so kind and helpful.

Mental health care ‘leaves a lot to be desired’
Mental health care should be more accessible. Rather than referrals to for-profit businesses, it should free and offered in Lapeer. Local access leaves a lot to be desired.

Biles exhibited courage
Simone Biles (Olympic gymnast) is still a superstar. To withdraw from competition in Tokyo took courage. If her head wasn’t clear to compete, she could’ve been injured.

Disgusted by name calling
Many on social media are criticizing Simone (Biles), calling her a quitter and “weak.” Coping with stress, anxiety and mental health issues doesn’t make someone weak. The name calling is disgusting and is why (the stigma) many people don’t seek help for mental health care.

Marijuana business ‘in the wrong location’
Lapeer doesn’t have too many marijuana businesses, they’re just in the wrong location. They should be out of sight in industrial parks, and not on a main street through town. They make Lapeer seem desperate, because officials have sold out to big marijuana.
