It’s your funeral!

This community is going to be in trouble if people continue to refuse to get vaccinated. You say it’s your choice? Well, it’s also your funeral. Hope it’s prepaid.

Thought I heard a tweety bird

Willfully ignorant people amaze me. They don’t trust medical science, but they’ll trust what BillyBob said in his last ridiculous tweet based on nothing by partisan banter that claims Democrats made COVID-19 worse.

Pay people more than chump change

The restaurants are losing cooks and wait staff in Lapeer to marijuana businesses because they pay more. Pay people more than chump change, and maybe restaurants will have a full staff. Don’t blame unemployment checks, blame poverty wages.

‘Shopping’ for anti-mask school district in county

Schools that require face masks will lose students. We will do school of choice and move our children if the school district caves to the hype about the Delta variant. Meanwhile, we’re shopping and looking in and around the county.

Appreciated story on ‘wooden giant’

Holy smokes, the wooden giant figure at the home of Bud Wilson is incredible. The woodwork, craftmanship and attention to detail is amazing. Thank you for publishing such an interesting story (Sunday, Aug. 15 edition).

New restaurant may result in innovative menus

Was happy to read that Lapeer is getting a new Mexican restaurant. Some competition will hopefully improve food and service at other places in the area that take customers for granted. Now they’ll have to try new things and change up the menu. Offer daily specials, for goodness sakes.

Excited for new dining option in Lapeer

We’ve been to the Mexican restaurant in Burton that’s going to be built in Lapeer. Many times. Puts everything else around here to shame. Can’t wait.

Tell us what you think

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive for the state health department, is “very concerned about the upcoming school year.” That’s after several districts — including in Lapeer County —announced they would not require masks, only on school buses. She says those districts aren’t following state and local guidance intended to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks in the classroom. What do you think? Should students be required to wear face masks?
