CAMDEN — Embrace the transition of seasons with a sonic cleansing Friday, Oct. 15, at 4:30 p.m. in the Camden Amphitheatre. Instrument creator and sound therapist Jim Doble invites the public to bring a chair, blanket or yoga mat to relax upon and listen to the transformative sounds of his resonant instruments. Doble will be joined by Forest Weston, who will add dimension to the event by playing a variety of didgeridoos.
During outdoor group “sound baths,” Doble uses mostly gongs, along with an assortment of singing bowls, tuning forks and instruments he’s created. Doble also appreciates that the Camden Amphitheatre is a place “where the sound of birds and the light rustling of the sea breeze through the trees adds to the sonic ambience.”
The event is by optional donation. A portion of the donations will benefit the Camden Public Library. Registering with Doble ahead of attending is encouraged so that you can be notified if the program is canceled. He can be contacted by email at jim@elementaldesign.me or by phone at (207) 785-2212.
Doble has been spreading good vibrations around the globe for nearly 30 years. In the last several years, he has collected and made a variety of large gongs and other instruments for use in both his private sound therapy practice, as well as playing for group sound baths.
