Six contestants took to the stage on Saturday in the Federal Way’s Got Talent finale with the Harmony King’s Sound Celebration taking first place.
Sound Celebration barbershop quartet includes lead Bob Wilkie, tenor John Rau, bass Todd Jameson and baritone Jim Burbidge. They took home $500 and will perform at the Taste of Federal Way event Saturday, Sept. 25.
“The original show really does honor the artist,” said judge Kenny Byrne. “I know personally how challenging it is to be an artist and perform. I just think it’s so fantastic we’re doing this.”
As the emcee for the shows, Bryne said: “I wanted to help people feel as comfortable as they could and show us what they came here to ideally show us.”
Sound Celebration garnered a score of 256, with votes by Federal Way Arts Commission members and community members at the farmers market.
In second place was Dylan Yuste with a score of 252 and Trey Freitag, with a score of 241, came in third.
Additional contestants included Bob Darrigan, Brayson Adams, and Just the Two of Us (Joyce and Mark Joneschit).
“It was so much fun,” said judge Karen Brugato. “I feel like a movie star,” added judge Iveta Felzenberg.
The group credited Vickie Chynoweth and Rose Ehl for their organization and promotion of the competition, and plans to host the competition again next year.
