Mixed messaging continues on COVID-19
If there are deaths and more than 100 new confirmed cases being reported each week in Lapeer County, why hasn’t there been mask mandates in the schools and stores again? Again, the messaging doesn’t make sense. Either it’s serious or it’s not. Which is it?

‘Use better caution’
The football stands are full with kids and families on Friday nights, the stores and restaurant are busy and yet the experts say the Delta variant (or COVID-19) can be spread outdoors. It seems people need to use a lot better caution or there will be more obituaries in the paper of people who died from the virus.

Better pay, better employees
Like the sheriff (Lapeer County Sheriff Scott McKenna) said in a recent meeting, the county needs to pay its employees more and then maybe they wouldn’t have so many job openings. Better pay will also increase the quality of applicants.

The churches wouldn’t have to give away potatoes if people were paid more and they could afford groceries that have skyrocketed due to inflation. Thanks Biden!

‘Marijuana businesses have the right idea’
Food pantries and potato giveaways? Does anyone else see the problem here? People wouldn’t need these services if there were better paying jobs, but too many places don’t pay enough. At least marijuana businesses have the right idea to start their people at $15.

‘Thanks’ for paving Saginaw Road
I would like to thank the Lapeer County Road Commission for paving Saginaw Road. It was in really rough shape. Now they need to do the entire length of Bowers Road from Farnsworth of the county line. But Saginaw is beautiful, thank you.
