ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Ahead of the Broncos' Week 10 home game against the Eagles, Denver has activated cornerback Essang Bassey to the 53-man roster and elevated four players from its practice squad.
The Broncos activated Bassey from the Physically Unable to Perform list, used standard elevations to bring tackles Quinn Bailey and Drew Himmelman to the active roster and elevated running back Damarea Crockett and linebacker Curtis Robinson to the active roster as COVID-19 Replacements.
Denver also signed quarterback Danny Etling to its practice squad, designated cornerback Duke Dawson Jr. as Practice Squad/Injured and placed linebacker Pita Taumoepenu on the Practice Squad/Covid-19 list.
Bassey appeared in 12 games in 2020 as a rookie and started three contests. He recorded one interception, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery. With Bryce Callahan on IR, he could be an option to play for Denver in the slot. Bassey has not played since tearing his ACL last December in Kansas City.
If active, Bailey and Himmelman should provide depth behind Calvin Anderson and Cam Fleming. Starting tackles Garett Bolles and Bobby Massie were ruled out for Week 10. Bailey has appeared in two career games, while Himmelman has not played in a game during his rookie season.
Crockett has appeared in seven games this season and may serve as a reserve running back after Mike Boone was added to the injury report late in the week with a hip injury. Boone is listed as questionable.
Robinson, meanwhile, has appeared in two games this year. He played 45 defensive snaps against the Browns in Week 7.
Etling, a seventh-round pick in 2018, has spent time on the practice squads for the Patriots and Falcons and has also been with the Seahawks and Vikings. The former LSU product completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,463 yards, 16 touchdowns and two interceptions during his final year in Baton Rouge.
