No place for officials ‘behaving badly’
Public officials behaving badly has no place in local politics, including at the Lapeer County Road Commission. Good reporting on a troubling situation out there.

Taking care of business for the people, not themselves
People who have personal vendettas should not be in public office. They’re a disgrace to the good elected and appointed people who are there to do the peoples’ business and not settle old grievances in a family.

‘Not the way it should be done’
There’s nothing wrong with supervisor evaluations or any job review, though that’s not typically something anyone would want carried out in public. My job is in human relations. That’s not the way it should be done.

COVID doesn’t ‘discriminate about who it infects’
The thing about COVID is that it doesn’t discriminate about who it infects. It doesn’t care if you’re a Republican or a Democrat, if you’re a COVID and vaccine denier, but one is for certain — it will sicken and kill anyone who is not vaccinated. So make your choice!

Tragic COVID-19 deaths
Two full pages of obituaries in The County Press. There have been two full pages in several recent editions. Many of those people died from COVID-19, and most probably didn’t think they needed to get vaccinated. They were wrong, and now they’re dead! How senseless and tragic these deaths of local people.

‘Insensitive and ghoulish’
I don’t think it’s ethical or nice to put stories about people dying in accidents or fires on the front page of the newspaper. It’s very insensitive and ghoulish. It doesn’t have to be printed at all. Death is private.

More good news, please
Why isn’t there more in the paper about people doing good things? The paper is nothing but bad news. You should do better about that. That should be your New Year’s resolution.

Many opportunities in new ‘electric’ world!
The electrification of the auto industry is a wonderful career opportunity for today’s youth. It’s the future, and young people need to appreciate the monumental change this means for society and the world and they can be on the cutting edge of this technology.

Get a job!
There’s no reason for anyone to be without a job, anywhere. The State of Michigan should stop paying the unemployment checks, and the lazy deadbeats will have to get a job rather than leach off the rest of us.

Tell us what you think
Lake Superior State University recently released its annual list of terms it argues should be banished in 2022. The argument is that many of the phrases are used too often in everyday language. The list includes phrases such as “at the end of the day,” “asking for a friend,” and “circle back.” Other phrases included “no worries,” “deep dive,” and “supply chain.” Are there words or phrases you would rather not be used anymore?
