MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State baseball team returns to the Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex on Saturday for game one of a four-game Mid-American Conference series with Bowling Green. First pitch for Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Ball State is coming off a 3-1 series against Eastern Michigan where Sam Klein recorded a save in all three of the Cardinal wins, which led to Klein being named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Kloser Klein
Klein solidified his role as a closer as he collected three saves over the weekend in all three games the Cardinals won. He retired all seven batters he faced. He recorded a 0.00 ERA and added two strikeouts. For the season, he has five saves, which is tied for fourth in the NCAA and leads the MAC. He has struck out 16 batters in nine innings on the mound. Opponents are hitting just .156 against him.
The Wright Stuff
Amir Wright has reached base safely in all 16 games this season and is second on the team with a .315 batting average. His 12 walks are third in the MAC. Wright has scored 11 runs and hit two triples, both lead the team. He has added four doubles, two stolen bases, and one home run. Wright is currently tied for 21st in the nation as the toughest to strikeout and leads the MAC with a strikeout average of 18.0. He has struck out just three times in 54 at bats.
RBI Powell
Nick Powell leads the team with 14 RBIs, which is second in the MAC. He also leads the squad with a .326 batting average. He has scored eight runs, drawn four walks, hit four doubles, and has two home runs.
Trenton Trots
Trenton Quartermaine leads the team with five home runs and is tied for second in the MAC. He is hitting 0.31 home runs a game which is tied for fourth in the conference.
Strikeout Staff
As a team, the Ball State pitching staff is 17th in the NCAA and leads the MAC in strikeouts per nine innings with 11.0.
Pitching Staff
Tyler Schweitzer leads the team in innings pitched with 21 2/3 with an ERA of 4.15. He has a 2-2 record with a team-best 25 strikeouts. Ty Johnson boasts a 2-1 record in 20 innings on the mound for Ball State. Johnson is second on the team with 22 strikeouts and has an ERA of 4.95. Trennor O'Donnell has a 1-2 mark in 18 innings on the mound. O'Donnell is third on the team with 19 strikeouts. Nate Dohm and Ty Weatherly have been strikeout machines as all three have recorded double-digit strikeouts. Steven Washilewski is the lone pitcher with multiple appearances that has not surrendered an earned run.

Cardinals vs. Falcons: The Series
The Cardinals hold a slim 64-63-2 advantage over the Falcons. Last season, Ball State won three of the four games at Bowling Green, but BGSU won the last meeting 8-5.
Scouting Bowling Green
Gage Schenk is slated to get the ball in game one of the series for the Falcons. He has a 6.16 ERA in a team-high 19 innings of work with an 0-2 record. He has a team-best 22 strikeouts and has given up 13 earned runs on 19 hits and eight walks. Andrew Abrahamowicz is scheduled to start on the mound in game two for BGSU. He has a 0-0 mark in 14 1/3 innings on the mound and is second on the team with 15 strikeouts. Abrahamowicz has given up 12 runs, 10 of them earned, on 16 hits and has walked a team-high 14 batters. Jack Krause leads the Bowling Green offense with a .308 batting average. Krause also leads the team in homers with three, runs scored with 11, doubles with five, and has tallied six RBIs. Three Falcons are perfect on stolen base attempts, Krause who is 3-for-3, Adam Fallon who is 4-for-4, and Tyler Ross who is 3-for-3.
