The Mercury’s Sound Off for Wednesday, March 16 - The Mercury

The inflation rate is 7.9% and here’s what your government is doing to help. The U.S. Mint is still punching out coins at a daily rate. In the last fiscal year ending in September, the mint spent (2.10 cents) to produce a penny and (8.52 cents) to produce a nickel, the mint states that the unit cost to produce the coins remained above face value for the last 16 years. Sounds like a great plan.

Rather than encouraging American oil producers to drill for more oil, Congressional Democrats are proposing a new tax on oil companies. The government will collect the tax and distribute some of the money to needy families. This typical Democrat solution will only discourage oil production. The smart solution is to encourage American companies to produce more oil. The price for consumers will go down, and the government will collect more in taxes.

I believe in consistency. I did not care when Russia was bombing Syrian civilians. I don’t care that Russia is still bombing Yemeni civilians. And I am not going to pay $5/gal for gas just because Russia is now bombing white Christian civilians in Ukraine.

Energy is critical to our economy and our standard of living. From Day 1, Biden has been on the attack against the oil/gas sector, with restrictions on pipelines, oil/gas retrieval, banking support, and with multiple federal government agencies damaging oil/gas activity, all prior to Ukraine. The U.S. can easily be energy self-sufficient. Biden is beholding to far-left interests who care nothing of our standard of living. Not very complicated.

Joe Biden’s minders had Scranton Joe repeat a blatant lie about February’s record inflation rate of 7.9% (or over 16% if the original government inflation formula is used). Scranton Joe said that February’s inflation rate was a result of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24. So only 4 days created the record after records in prior months? What a bunch of liars.

I would like to ask the people of Pottstown to weigh in on what they see. I know what I see and apparently, that is not what the borough officials see. In my mind, Pottstown is in distress. Even our local newspaper building, The Mercury, sits empty.

Leftist lemmings like The Moderate must feel so intelligent when they memorize and regurgitate mainstream media’s pro-Biden/anti-Trump/anti-American rhetoric. If they knew any better they’d be embarrassed by their rants. Econ 101: US domestic policies can have a significant impact on the commodities market. Have you been totally brainwashed, or did you just conveniently forget about the four glorious years we had under Donald Trump and his energy policies?

Dopey Joe spends about 40% of his first year in his basement or at Camp David but you won’t read about that in the lamestream news.

On the cover page of Sunday’s Mercury, the lead story started with, “Russian invasion leading to higher gas prices, rising inflation.” So the local media is in lockstep with Joe Biden and the lamestream media by putting the blame for higher energy prices on everything but himself. Joe Biden declared war on fossil fuels his first day in office, and he hasn’t let up since. What did you expect gas prices to do?

Med Tech:  “… diabetes, high BP, and heart disease …all afflictions of the mouth … be cured with the mouth … Credentials are not needed to state facts.” In other words, you have no medical credentials except your pseudonym. You are not stating facts, you are giving your opinion, claiming it is medical advice. People, talk to a real doctor.

Hey Patriot54, 2016 called and they want their Donald Trump Russia Collusion fake narrative back. It’s a truly sad-sack life you’re living if you’re still clinging to the big lie that Trump was a Russian asset. Tune in to some non-CNN news and you’ll learn that Hillary, Joe, and Hunter are bedfellows with the Russians. Putin feared and respected Trump. That’s why he didn’t dare cross him when we had a real president.

During a talk at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, a Grange president said there are 420 solar farms under consideration in Pennsylvania. They will remove 80,000 acres of productive land to make way for solar panels. I guess we have too much food now. Let’s grow electric power.

OK! I get that people of a certain political party like to complain about gas prices. The Putin/Trump gas hike won’t last forever so buck up and do your part. Liberals pay the same rate and they don’t cry about it. Liberals are the real patriots, right Dot?

Kamala Harris is so embarrassing and weird. She should be kept off the television. Having her laugh at Ukrainian refugees is just the latest example of her inability to act as a serious, informed, competent person.

Joe Biden hasn’t received the full credit he deserves for his statesmanship against Russia. Rather than touting his accomplishments in mobilizing a unified global response to the invasion, he has portrayed the stringent sanctions as the triumph of an alliance. By letting France and Germany take turns as the lead faces of NATO — he has left Vladimir Putin with no opportunity to portray the conflict as a standoff with the United States.

Patriot54

J. Swift, your inane posts continue — remember back in May 2018 when Chuck Schumer posed in front of an Exxon station sign showing higher gas prices? Schumer wanted Trump to do something about gas prices. Now those gas prices are more than a dollar higher on the same sign and Schumer is nowhere to be found. Trump did something about those prices, now it is Biden’s turn, and yesterday he said “it is Russia’s fault.”

The Russian news media is not letting citizens know what is actually happening with their invasion of Ukraine. But one thing they are seeing is Tucker Carlson spreading false stories. Putin loves it. Does Carlson work for the Russian government? It sure seems like it. Why is Carlson undermining our country, and aren’t there laws against this? Don’t be surprised if he gets invited to the Kremlin.

What happened to Covid? It disappeared. A month ago, omicron was a scourge. Did someone find the cure?

To Patriot 54, I am not sure Biden’s approval ratings are going up. but I know for sure the cost of living is certainly increasing. The Biden voters are certainly getting “what they voted for.” Unfortunately, all the non-Biden voters are paying for what they did not vote for. Sad to think so many people hated Trump so badly that they would risk the welfare of our country and vote for incompetent, senile candidates named Biden and Harris.

Why won’t Biden ever answer reporters’ questions and he just walks away? Maybe because that is what he is told to do. Way to be transparent — another lie of transparency promised with this administration.

Keystone XL, some facts. There’s a pipeline called Keystone from Alberta to Port Arther TX. that transports 560,000 barrels per day. It’s refined and then loaded onto tankers and exported to Europe, not one drop goes to the U.S. Keystone has 3 times the leaks as other pipelines. Less than 100 permanent jobs were created. Keystone XL would have allowed an expansion to 800,000 b.p.d., still not one drop to the U.S. Sources: nwf.org>KXL>myths_vs_facts, nrdc.org>keystone

Over a week ago, a WNBA basketball player was detained/arrested in Russia. Is Joe Biden doing anything? Who knows? But when UCLA basketball players were detained/arrested in China for shoplifting, President Trump got involved right away and got them home. Is Biden afraid of Putin or what?

To the far-right: “Climate change is a hoax!” Prove it! “Dems all hate America!” Prove it! “The MSM are all lying!” Prove it! “Joe Biden is a doddering, criminal!” Prove it! “It wouldn’t have happened under Trump!” Prove it! Other than “Drill, baby! Drill!” we hear nothing constructive from you, just hate, negativity, and unfounded claims.

Joe Biden’s gas prices are so high even Tom Brady can’t afford to retire!

The Snarky Conservative

Recently I had my truck towed from home to Reading and back home again. When asked why I did that I said, “I had a doctor appointment in Reading and realized it was cheaper to have it towed than put gas in it and drive it!”
