ITHACA, N.Y. – As announced by the Liberty League conference office on Monday afternoon, Ithaca College had Louis Fabbo earn Baseball Performer of the Week, teammate Connor Pedersen was named Baseball Co-Rookie of the Week, Eliana Chelnick was recognized as Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, Katelyn Hutchison captured Women's Track Performer of the Week and the Bombers First Varsity Eight was named the Women's Rowing Boat of the Week.
10 others earned places on the latest Honor Roll for their respective sports.
Baseball Performer of the Week- Louis Fabbo
Louis Fabbo put on a hitting display over four games last week as he batted .500 (8-for-16) with nine RBI, seven runs scored, three home runs and two doubles. He began the week with a 3-for-5 game with two runs, two RBI and a home run in a 12-8 loss to No. 6 Cortland. Fabbo then went 5-for-5 with seven RBI, four runs, two home runs - including a grand slam - and two doubles in a 16-10 win at RIT.
Baseball Co-Rookie of the Week- Connor Pedersen
Pedersen went 12-for-19 (.632) this week and he produced three straight four-hit games. Pedersen also scored six runs and drove in five runs in a 3-1 week. He began the week with a 4-for-5 game at No. 6 Cortland with a run and RBI. Pedersen then went 8-for-10 with five runs scored and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep of RIT.
Women's Rowing- Boat of the Week- Ithaca Varsity Eight
The Ithaca women's rowing team took home first-place in each event against both RIT and Nazareth on Cayuga Inlet. It was an impressive performance for the IC varsity eight lineup. The 1V featured Michele Hyland, Allison Arndt, Laura Trainor, Dania Bogdanovic, Taylor Volmrich, Izzy Ozkurt, Brenna Hanratty, Karley Whalen and Eliza Worth. The boat completed the course in 7.27.9 taking gold to RIT and Nazareth who had final times of 7:44.0 and 8:42.2 respectively.
Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week- Eliana Chelnick
First year Eliana Chelnick took home wins in both singles and doubles in Ithaca's 6-3 victory over William Smith Friday afternoon. The first year rounded out the singles wins for IC with the team's most commanding victory in the sixth slot, shutting out the Herons' Charlotte Sanford 6-0, 6-0. Along with partner Zoe Davis, Chelnick also recorded an 8-6 win over Isabelle Goings-Perrot and Julia Pida at second doubles.
Women's Track & Field- Track Performer of the Week- Katelyn Hutchison
Katelyn Hutchison placed 14th overall in the 400-meter dash at Bucknell on Saturday with a time of 57.74 seconds, which is now No. 21 on the Division III list.
HONOR ROLL
Garrett Bell made two appearances this week and posted a 1-0 record in 6.0 innings of work. Bell struck out nine batters and allowed one earned run on six hits, while owning a 1.50 ERA.
Jake Erickson matched a season-best four goals in the 11-8 win over Skidmore as he scored all four of his efforts in the first half. He finished with six points thanks to a pair of assists against the Thoroughbreds. The junior attacker also scored two goals in the loss to RIT.
Rachel Rosenberg won 14 draws, caused two turnovers, scooped up four groundballs and scored a goal with two assists in a 1-1 week for Ithaca. In a loss to No. 8 William Smith, Rosenberg scored a goal and assisted on another, to go along with five draws, two groundballs and a caused turnover. She then won nine draws in a win over RIT with an assist, two groundballs and a caused turnover.
Caroline Wise tallied six goals, two assists, four groundballs and 17 draw controls in a 1-1 week for Ithaca. Against No. 8 William Smith, she had two goals, an assist, five draws and two groundballs in the loss. She then notched four goals with an assist, 12 draws and two groundballs in a 22-11 win at RIT.
The first race of the day for IC featured the men's second varsity eight. The race was close throughout however the Bombers edged out the Tigers. Ithaca completed their race in 6:49.4 to RIT's time of 7:07.0. The Bombers took about 1.5 seconds off their time from the Knecht Cup last weekend where they went 6:50.9.
Earned another pair of wins for the Bombers against Alfred and Union. Anna Cornell totaled seven strikeouts in four innings against Alfred and followed it up by allowing just one run in the 7-1 win against the Dutchwomen. She also totaled seven additional punch outs against Union.
Junior Zoe Davis clinched the 6-3 team win for Ithaca College over William Smith this Friday afternoon in the third singles slot. After dropping the first set 4-6, the junior battled back to take the second 6-4 over the Heron's Isabelle Goings-Perrot. Davis then took the super tiebreaker by five points to win the match 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Danny Jagoe broke an 11-year-old record in the 5,000 at Bucknell on Friday as he clocked a time of 14:36.86 to finish 27th overall. IC's previous record of 14:46.06 set in 2011 by William Way.
Kevin Danaher broke a 37-year record in the discus at Cortland on Saturday as he finished first with a heave of 47.57 meters. The previous record of 47.31 meters was set back in 1985.
Ariyahna Bernard posted four third place finishes at Cortland on Saturday as she competed in the shot put, discus, hammer throw and javelin. She recorded a mark of 10.62 meters in the shot put, 33.06 meters in the discus, 41.15 meters in the hammer and 26.64 meters in the javelin.
