
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Four members of the RIT Baseball team landed Liberty League All-Conference honors, Tuesday. Sophomore John Arnold garnered second-team recognition as a starting pitcher, while three seniors received honorable-mention citations that included Ian Libby at first base, Patrick Blackall at third base and Chris Reilly at outfield.
Arnold finished with a 3-2 record during 10 appearances and eight starts this spring, totaling 59 innings pitched to go along with 42 strikeouts. He picked up a complete-game victory in the Tigers' 7-3 victory against Penn-State Altoona (March 5) in Florida, scattering five hits while striking out nine batters with one walk.
Libby finished the season first or second in eight offensive categories, leading the team with 44 hits and 29 walks. His 14 doubles and four triples were also team highs while finishing second on the team with 27 RBI, 26 runs, 66 total bases and 145 at-bats. Libby was third on the team with a .303 batting average and .455 slugging percentage. He finished with a .983 fielding percentage while leading the team with 361 catches, 335 putouts and 28 double plays in 38 starts. Libby contributed to single game team records for hits, runs and RBI (all at 27) on April 9 in a 27-8 win over St. Lawrence with two hits, one run and three RBI.
Blackall finished the season in the top-five in six offensive categories. He was third with 23 RBI, 51 total bases and a .455 slugging percentage, while tied for fourth with 24 runs. Blackall's .291 batting average and 30 hits ranked fifth on the team, with the latter including 10 doubles that were second to Libby. In the field, the third baseman recorded 23 putouts and 57 assists with three errors for a .964 fielding percentage in 27 starts. Blackall contributed to single game team records for hits, runs and RBI (all at 27) on April 9 in a 27-8 win over St. Lawrence with three hits, five runs and four RBI.
Reilly finished the season first in six offensive categories. He tied a school record with 10 home runs, while also leading the team with 75 total bases, 33 RBI, 30 runs and a .495 slugging percentage with 152 at-bats. Reilly's 36 hits were third on the team and he finished with a .237 batting average. In the field, his 47 putouts ranked fourth, finishing with a .962 fielding percentage in 38 starts. Reilly contributed to single game team records for hits, runs and RBI (all at 27) on April 9 in a 27-8 win over St. Lawrence with two hits, three runs and five RBI.
RIT finished the season with an 19-19 record, including a 9-10 Liberty League mark.
