DeKALB, Illinois – Four members of the 2021-22 Northern Illinois University women's tennis team have been named to the 2022 Academic All Mid-American Conference team announced by the league office Wednesday.
Seniors Iuliia Dmitrieva (Smolensk, Russia) and Christy Robinson (Wellington, New Zealand) each earned their second Academic All-MAC honor. Dmitrieva finished her NIU academic career with a 3.89 GPA in operations and information management, while Robinson compiled a 3.50 GPA in advocacy and public communication. Both earned their undergraduate degrees from NIU in May.
Moscow, Russia products Diana Lukyanova and Anastasia Rakita were named to the Academic All-MAC team in their first year of eligibility for the award. Both are business majors; Rakita has a cumulative GPA of 3.84 while Lukyanova has posted a 3.25 mark.
NIU has had four student-athletes named to the Academic All-MAC women's tennis team for the second consecutive year. In order to qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and have participated in 50 percent of the matches during the season. Freshmen and other first-year students (junior college transfers) are not eligible for the award
The Huskies finished the 2022 season 17-11 overall and 4-6 versus Mid-American Conference opponents with four wins in the last five matches. The 17 regular season wins were the most by the Huskies since 1989-90, while NIU's 43 dual wins over the past three seasons (including 12 wins prior to the COVID shutdown) are the most over a three-year stretch since 1984-86.
