The Catfish House, revered for its Lake Okeechobee bone-in "little ones," will serve its last meal on June 24.
Owners Greg and Loretta Nocenti are retiring after 25 ½ years.
The 70-year-old restaurant previously was owned by John Smith, who ran John’s Catfish Restaurant for about 10 years, and Bud Johnson, who ran Johnson’s Catfish House for about 30 years before that, Loretta Nocenti said.
“We just want to enjoy some time and travel,” she said. “But it’s very emotional. I just love that place.”
The Nocentis are leasing the building to Taste Casual Dining owner Craig Kingston, who on Mother's Day served his last meal in his previous downtown Hobe Sound location at 11750 S.E. Dixie Highway.

He'll bring his Taste menu to the Catfish House, but some old favorites may remain.
"Catfish is sometimes hard to get, as they'll tell you, but I may have it as a special now and again," Kingston told TCPalm "And we're already doing a few of the things they do."
He listed snapper Francese, shrimp Francese, fresh fish, salmon, tuna, wahoo, blackened scallops, sauteed scallops and mushrooms. He'll also continue to serve prime rib and other Taste favorites daily.
Kingston had to move Taste after the building owner died and it was sold.
"I was overwhelmed by the kindness of all the customers and all their heartwarming comments as we were leaving," he said. "I hope my customers come see us again — and we can make catfish like Taste."
