Kick Off 2021 With A Wellness Staycation At Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia - Forbes

Editor's Note: If you’re traveling, please check local government restrictions and safety measures related to COVID-19, and consider your health and comfort levels before departure.

It’s safe to say that 2020 was a year for the history books. So if you’re looking for a way to hit the reset button physically and emotionally, consider a wellness trip.

But with non-essential flying out of the question for the time being, and many wellness resorts tucked away in remote destinations, it may not seem like there’s worthy options within driving distance for East Coasters. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, one Philadelphia hotel is proving you don’t need to hop on a plane for a safe and rejuvenating getaway.

Set in Center City, Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia occupies the top floors of the gleaming Comcast Technology Center and is the tallest hotel in North America. While the property oozes with contemporary glamour the moment you step into the 60th-floor black marble lobby adorned with striking arrangements by famed floral designer Jeff Leatham, don’t be fooled into thinking the sky’s the limit. Because here, it’s just the beginning.

The guest touchpoints and amenities, from the seamless service to the sleek accommodations with bird's-eye views of the city, are nearly faultless – the hotel earned a double Five-Star win in Forbes Travel Guide 2021 – making it more than easy to stay put once you’ve checked in. And to make a staycation even more enticing, the hotel just unveiled a special Celebrations Package with luxe perks like Jeff Leatham floral arrangements, early check-in and late check-out, and valet parking.

As for where to get your well-deserved wellness fix, look no further than the award-winning spa. The 10,000 square-foot urban oasis doesn’t just prioritize pampering – but balancing and healing as well. To that end, over 700 pounds of various crystals are incorporated throughout the facilities, with the seven treatment rooms named after the specific crystal (including amethyst and citrine) embedded within its walls.

Fittingly, the spa menu features crystal-centric bodywork (like the signature Crystal Oil Massage), but it’s the Seasons of Chakras Massage that’ll help ground and center you for the new year. “It’s not a traditional massage, but it is a full body experience,” explains spa director Verena Lasvigne-Fox of the unique chakra-balancing treatment that engages all the five senses. “Because everyone’s had traditional massages, we incorporated some surprising elements to promote an overall sense of zen.”

For an aromatherapy element, Lasvigne-Fox and her team selected certain spices and herbs to correspond to the seven chakras. (For example, spicy clove is used to open the throat chakra.) Unlike deep tissue or sports massages, which can be intense, the pressure applied throughout this 60-minute session is, in Lasvigne’s words, “light and gentle, but intentional.” Crystal singing bowls and tuning forks, which are are used at the beginning and end of the massage, cradle you in healing sounds and vibrations. And to extend the restorative vibes after the treatment, you’ll be given a warming mug of Rishi Masala Chai Tea in the relaxation lounge and your choice of one of three custom-blended air freshener sprays (Relaxation, Energizing, and Immune Booster).
