First Pitch
The Racers make their home debut this weekend against the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne with a four-game tilt. Murray State picked up their first win over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday, 12-7.
Inside the Series
This is Racers' first meeting of the Mastodons since 2018. Murray State won 3-of-4 the last time the two played back in 2018 in Murray, Kentucky. The Racers and Mastodons will play two doubleheaders over a two-day period.
Home Field Advantage
The Racers will be playing a home game for the first time in 361 days. Murray State last played at home on March 1, 2020, beating Bowling Green, 25-5. The Racers went undefeated (7-0) versus their opponents at Johnny Reagan Field in 2020.
Bats Come Alive
After being shutout at Lipscomb until the final innings, the Racers bats got off to a hot start against Middle Tennessee, putting up six runs through the first three innings. Bryson Bloomer and Ryan Perkins each tallied four hits and four RBIs with Brennan McCullough driving in two runs.
We're Going Streaking
Jake Slunder and Brock Anderson are the only two Racers to have reached base safely in all three games so far. Last season, Jordan Cozart led the Racers with 15-game streak followed by Slunder with 14.
Opening Day Slugger
Brock Anderson cracked two home runs on Opening Day against Lipscomb. The dingers accounted for the Racers first four RBIs of the season. Anderson is slugging 1.333% after the games. Ryan Perkins smacked his first home run of the season against Middle Tennessee.
Fast Starts
Jordan Cozart, Brock Anderson and Jordan Holly have all gotten off to hot starts to the 2021 season. Cozart went 4-for-8 with a double while Anderson was 2-for-6 with two home runs, four RBIs, 1.333 slg % and one walk. Holly was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run scored and one walk.
Familiar Look
The Racers lineup has a familiar feel to it with MSU returning eight of its position player starters from last year.
