DURHAM, N.C. – Four Blue Devils were recognized by the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society the organization announced on Wednesday.

Representing Duke was Michael Carter II, Rakavius Chambers, Noah Gray, and Devery Hamilton. The Blue Devils have now placed at least four players on the NFF Hampshire Honor Society in nine of the last 10 seasons.

The 2021 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An elite group of 910 players from 255 schools qualified for membership in 2021, the Society's 15th year. The initiative has now honored 13,077 student-athletes since its inception.

"We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year's Hampshire Honor Society," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives."

In 46 career games, 36 starts, Carter II compiled 135 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions, 24 pass breakups, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and one quarterback pressure. The Douglasville, Ga., native was also one of three defensive players in Duke history to start multiple bowl game victories (2017 Quick Lane & 2018 Walk-On's Independence), joining DE Victor Dimukeje and LB Ben Humphreys. His 24 career pass breakups placed him tied with Quinton McCracken (1988-91) for 10th all-time in program history. The three-time Academic All-ACC selection and team captain graduated from Duke in December, 2020, with a public policy degree and certificate in markets and management.

Throughout his Duke tenure, Chambers helped block for an offense that averaged 375.69 yards of total offense per game. He also paved the way for the Blue Devils to record 12 games with 40-plus points. During his rookie season, he became the second true freshman to see game action along the offensive front in the David Cutcliffe Era. The 2020 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team member and three-time All-ACC Academic Team recipient will graduate from Duke in May, 2021, with a biology degree.

Gray missed only one game during his Duke tenure (48 career games with 21 starts) and registered 105 receptions for 948 yards and eight touchdowns. The 2019 All-America Second Team pick by The Walter Camp Football Foundation was also a 2019 All-ACC Second Team choice. Duke's lone representative at the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl, Gray earned 26 games with two-plus receptions, including a career-high seven catches at Wake Forest in 2019. He caught four-plus passes in 12 contests and reached 20-plus receiving yards in 21 games with a career-high 76 yards coming against the Demon Deacons in 2019. During his final season, the Leominster, Mass., native broke Duke's all-time career receptions mark by a tight end and finished fourth in program history for most career touchdown receptions by a tight end. The two-time Academic All-ACC selection and team captain graduated from Duke in December, 2020 with a degree in political science and a certificate in markets and management.

Hamilton lettered one season at Duke after transferring from Stanford. In total, he saw action in 38 career games, 21 starts, and registered 1,823 snaps along the offensive line. Last season, the Ellicott City, Md., native helped block for an offense that averaged 379.7 yards of total offense per game and created paths for running backs Mataeo Durant and Deon Jackson to record four and two games with over 100-plus rushing yards, respectively. He also helped the Duke offense register 33 total touchdowns, including 19 via the ground game and blocked for an aerial attack that threw for over 2,400-plus yards for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. The three-time academic selection (Pac-12 All-Academic x2 and Academic All-ACC) will graduate from Duke in May, 2021, with a master's degree in management studies.
