FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the second consecutive year, the FGCU men's basketball team had multiple student-athletes honored to the NABC Honors Court. The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) highlights collegiate basketball players who have excelled the prior season in the classroom with the Honors Court accolade.

Representing FGCU were rising senior Caleb Catto (Cape Coral, Fla./Southwest Florida Christian Academy), recent graduates Sam Gagliardi (Gig Harbor, Wash./Citrus College) and Justus Rainwater (Enumclaw, Wash./Cochise College), and Dom London (Christiana, Pa./Harcum College) who was a junior guard on the team last year.

Gagliardi and Rainwater earned the honor for the second consecutive season. Over the last two years, the Eagles have had seven different players recognized for their athletic and academic success.

"I'm extremely proud of the work and the success our student-athletes have had over the past three years," said head coach Michael Fly. "The support staff in the Hartley Academic Resource Center has done a great job in assisting them. We appreciate all the work they put in to help our student-athletes, particularly this past year with so many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic."

For Catto, this was his second academic honor of the year as he became the first FGCU player in program history to be chosen to the ASUN All-Academic Team following the season. The integrated studies major had a perfect. 4.0 GPA in the fall while posting a 3.65 cumulative grade-point-average. He was named to the Dean's List and President's List while also being an ASUN Honor Roll honoree. He also was tabbed an ASUN Winter Winner for Life based on his excellence in and out of competition.

The Eagles tied Liberty for second among ASUN schools with four honorees on the NABC Honors Court. North Florida led the league with five. That also placed FGCU second among Florida schools honored behind the Ospreys and ahead of Miami (2 honorees).

The NABC recognizes student-athletes representing the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I levels. To be named to the Honors Court, student-athletes must be in their junior or senior years academically, while holding a 3.2-or-higher cumulative grade-point-average at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.

Ticket information for the 2021-22 season is available by calling 866-FGCU-TIX, logging on to www.FGCUTickets.com, or stopping by the Alico Arena Box Office during business hours Monday through Friday. Season tickets are currently on sale following the summer renewal period. Mini-plan options and single-game tickets will be put on sale closer to the season.
