DURHAM – Duke women's tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth has been selected the 2022 ACC Coach of the Year, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.

Ashworth was bestowed Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in his career, having previously been awarded the accolade in 2001, 2003 and 2018. Under his direction this season, Ashworth led the Blue Devils to a 23-4 overall record, 10 wins over top-25 ranked opponents, their 18th overall ACC Championship and first since 2012 as well as a final ITA ranking of No. 4. Duke also advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the 11th time in school history and ninth time under Ashworth.

"First, I want to thank my peers in our conference that have recognized our accomplishments this year," said Ashworth on being named the ACC Coach of the Year. "They are the ones who 'live' it every day like we do, and for them to see that means the world to us. This is an award that should be given to our entire team and support staff.  It is truly a reflection of the work our team and those that surround our program have put in, which allowed us to have the success that we were able to have."

A quartet of Blue Devils also garnered all-conference awards for their spectacular performances during the 2021-22 campaign. Junior Chloe Beck and senior Georgia Drummy collected their second-career conference honors as each were tabbed to the All-ACC First Team. Senior Kelly Chen earned her fourth nod to the All-ACC Second Team, while freshman Emma Jackson was selected to the third team.

"What a tremendous accomplishment for all four of our student-athletes," said Ashworth. "The ACC has been the toughest conference in the country the last few years, and for them to be recognized as they have been by our league's coaches is something they should be proud of."

Beck led the team in singles wins and finished a stellar junior campaign with an overall record of 34-11. The Watkinsville, Ga., native finished the regular season with an 18-0 mark and a 13-0 record in ACC play, making her the first Duke player since 2018 to finish conference play undefeated. Beck posted 12 wins over ranked opponents, including a pair of top-10 wins over No. 7 Irina Cantos (Ohio State) and No. 4 Cameron Morra (UNC). She also formed a potent doubles pairing with rookie Ellie Coleman at No. 2 doubles, going 11-4 in dual match play and 7-0 in the ACC.

Drummy ended the 2021-22 campaign on an eight-match win streak and finished with a 24-10 overall ledger. The Dublin, Ireland, native notched wins over 15 ranked opponents, including top-10 victories over No. 6 Irina Cantos Siemers (Ohio State) and No. 4 Daria Frayman (Princeton). Paired with teammate Karolina Berankova in doubles action, the pair had a solid season at No. 1 doubles, scoring a pair of top-10 wins over No. 8 Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh (UVA) and top-ranked Jaeda Daniel and Nell Miller (NC State).

Chen became just the 16th player in program lore to collect four separate All-ACC honors. She concluded an outstanding Duke career ranked sixth all-time on the singles list (134-48) and fifth all-time in total victories (singles and doubles) with a 222-93 record. A winner of her last six contests, Chen registered a team-best six match-clinching points, including ones in the regular season finale against No. 1 North Carolina, the ACC semifinal match against Miami and the NCAA quarterfinals against NC State.

Jackson had a sensational freshman campaign that saw her rack up 23 singles wins. She beat eight ranked opponents and finished second on the team with five match-clinching points. Two of those came against Virginia on March 4 and April 24. The first helped Duke complete a 3-1 comeback, while the latter aided Duke in its 18th ACC Championship.

The league's top individual winners this season were Virginia's Emma Navarro, who was the ACC's Player of the Year, and NC State's Priska Nugroho as Freshman of the Year.
